Prologue

*Katherine's POV*

'No Zayn put me down!' I yelled to the Bradford bad boy, who was currently carrying me bridal style towards the cool water at Coney Island beach.

'This is the beach! There's water here for a reason, to swim in it!' Niall called out to us with a smirk.

'Or it's here for the old people to release their bladders without having to find a public toilet!' I screeched as we approached the water's edge.

I received 5 full out laughs from the British-Irish boy band One Direction.

'Its just a bit of water!' Harry called out to me.

'Dirty water!!' I replied.

Then I was immersed in the water, sputtering out the bit that got in my mouth.

The boys were standing in front me laughing at me.

'I. Hate. All. Of. You.' I enunciated slowly, glaring at each and every one of them, water dripping down my body.

'WE LOVE YOU TOO, KAT!' they shouted back at me.

What would I do without these losers?

This is the story of how I came to meet these 5 boys and my life from there on. How 5 people could change my life so drastically, I don't know. But they did.

I bet you're all wondering who I am. My name is Katherine Santana. I went to a high school in Manhattan, NY. I graduated June of this year, and it's currently the beginning of July.

I don't know what to think of my appearance. I'm a 5'7 brunette with brown eyes. My hair, falling to a little past my mid-back, has natural gold colored highlights, and my eyes have gold specks, framed by thick, long, dark lashes. I have full pink lips which are always covered in a layer of lip gloss. Thats pretty much all the makeup I wear. I'm not very fond of makeup. I'm a bit pale for a Hispanic, which is why I was hitting the beach a lot this summer, but with some unexpected company.

Oh, and did I forgot to mention that my closest guy friends are the members of One Direction?
