Chapter 3 - Run

I woke up at 7:20 A.M getting ready to go as I take one last walk around the castle before heading off. "Ready?" Evan asked, "Yeah, let's go." I say taking my bags before we all headed out the door leaving everything behind us, we had taken the long-way towards the forest so we were less likely to be caught, "We head East from here." Alec said while looking down at his GPS, "I'm going to miss this place" Gold said with a saddened tone in her voice refusing to let the tears spill from her glossy eyes, "I will too, but we will get our kingdom back." Rainbow vowed, but after she said that, it got me thinking.

Mom and dad are dead, and when we get our kingdom back because the unknown king is taking over... Does that mean Rainbow is queen? She's the oldest out of all of us.

"Rainbow?" I called out to her in a quiet voice, she gave me a side glance, "Yes?" She whispered figuring I wanted to keep the conversation quiet considering the volume of my words, "When we get our kingdom back does that mean you're queen?" I questioned with a slight glimmer of hope in my eyes.

"Yeah, I'll be queen and we will run the kingdom together," she said with pure love radiating from her statement as I nodded and kept walking trying to keep up, "Shh," Julia said with her hand out "What?" Lunar asked, "Someone's coming, quickly in the trees!" She said and climbed up a tree, we followed after and waited till the person came by, there were several footsteps, heavy ones at that. "Another mission accomplished," a deep-voiced person said, "We got the queen and king, but not the kids." Another person said "They could be anywhere, keep an eye out. If the king finds out the kids are planning to attack we're dead for!" The third voice said, "To be honest the king is kind of annoying, that nut job doesn't know anything!" The first person said "I can agree," they walked past us and we jumped down. "Were those the people who attacked us?" Draco growled anger raging within him, "Probably, but it's best if we kept going." Evan replied, trying his best to remain calm and keep Draco in his place so he wouldn't run after them. We continued and found a wide river flowing into a waterfall which reminded me of the Crystal Dragon Lake since It's water's were warm and clear, "What now?" Julia asked, staring straight into the lake like she was contemplating something, Easy, we find another way around," Evan said "Or we could hop across those stones," pointed Draco gathering laugh from us and an embarrassed Evan, carefully and easily hopping across the river all of us kept walking and walking till dawn. "Are we there yet?" Gold asked for the millionth time, "Not yet, we won't get to the next kingdom until tomorrow" Alec announced, Gold groaned not liking this a single bit but I knew she was just complaining to keep our minds off of the dire situation at hand. Soon the ten of us had decided to set up camp in a little open area with a stream flowing next to us. "Girls in this tent and guys in this one," Kyran said as he hammered the last peg into the ground. "Awesome," Lunar said when she stepped into the tent.

A couple of hours later

It was night and I walked out of the tent to see a campfire going with the portable stove from my stash cooking a steak.

"Where did you get a steak?" I asked surprised but the sudden found of food they had gotten, "We found a wild cow and hunted it, the cow was old anyways" Julia said, which made me even more confused since I didn't know there were actually wild cows in the forest. Something doesn't seem natural about that.

I nodded and sat down on a log next to the fire. "Cold?" I heard Gold say as she put a blanket over me. "I guess," later the rest of the Krew came out and sat around the fire, where Alec put a piece of steak on multiple paper plates he packed and handed it to us. Somehow he managed to pack all of this; I'm suddenly realizing he is extremely prepared for this kind of stuff, "Eat up, we have a long way to go tomorrow." he said. "We need a plan for tomorrow," Evan says while chewing his food. "Ew, where are your manners?" Gold said in a disgusted voice. "Sorry but I'm not royal, and I don't care," Evan said while chewing his food again, Gold made a gagging sound and ate her food quietly. "Enough, we leave at sunrise again so be up by then," Alec said as he put a piece of steak in his mouth, he only talked business in a boring tone of voice which kind of made the night seem longer then what is actually needed to be. "Finally, at least someone has manners!" Gold said out loud while glaring at Evan. "If we take the West river down to the flower patch then we can cross that and get to the kingdom faster," Julia said as she marked something on the map. "What kingdom are we heading to exactly?" Asked Draco "Sky city-kingdom" replied Napoleon "My guard actually talks?" Rainbow asked, Napoleon, rolled his eyes and continued to eat. "We're welcomed there, my aunt rules the kingdom," Alec said while looking down refusing to meet anyone's gaze after he had said that, "So you're royal?" I asked "I don't know, my grandmother adopted my mom and she married a commoner and had me but my grandparents were royal and so was my aunt." he said while carving something in the dirt "I see," I say Alec was a mysterious guy, he'd only talk about Strategies and only that kind of stuff because he's a guard, but he never opened up about himself, I would like to get to know my guard better if I'm going to spend a lot of time with him but every time I try he doesn't respond, this was the first time he actually opened up about himself...

Rainbow's POV*

I'm sitting here with an empty plate in my hand, thinking about what's going to happen in the future, although my guard Napoleon actually spoke, He's a quiet guy, doesn't talk much until now. it just gets me thinking. "Rainbow?" Lunar snapped me out of my thoughts "Yeah?" I asked, "It's time for bed, come on." Lunar had seemed more tired than before for some reason, "Oh, okay," I get up and head to the tent, I look behind me and saw Napoleon putting the fire out, and I smiled then went in. "Why are you smiling?" Funneh asked "Nothing," I say "You sure?" Gold said while making that 'You have a crush face', I slipped into my sleeping bag "Shut up, I'm going to bed." I said, then turning the lantern off. "Ooooooh Rain-" I kicked Gold and she whined in pain "Ow!"

Funneh's POV*

I wake up and checked my phone 7:59 A.M, my phone was at 79% I had turned it off most of the time. I get up and change into something new. By the time I get out everyone was up and awake "Morning sleepyhead," Gold Asked, "Um good morning, you guys are already changed?" I question "Yup, we took down our tent just waiting for you to get up so we can take down yours," Kyran said as he got up and walked over to the girl's tent.

"Today I'm going to train all of you on how to use a sword, we're starting at our next camp area, or kingdom if we get lucky enough to reach there by day," Alec said while cleaning up. "Alright! I can finally do something I want!" I jump up and down excitedly.

"Well, let's eat and head on our way," Evan said while coming out of the woods.

After packing up we were walking towards Sky City, a city in the sky that's also a kingdom, how weird. We were walking non-stop until we found a Dragon.
