Chapter 17

Title- You're A Drug

Meredith's POV

"Let's go on a night adventure." I nodded my head in excitement, I've always wanted to go on one.

"Where to?" he smiled mischievously "You'll have to wait and see."

Austin was writing a note for the others just in case they woke up while we were gone. In the mean time I ran up to my room and grabbed a sweatshirt. I didn't think Austin had one so I grabbed him his one that he left over at my house.

I met him in the car and he smiled at me. We drove for about 30 minutes then he unexpectedly stopped the car.

"Uh Austin, we are in the middle of no where." he took the keys out of the ignition and gave me a cheeky smile. "I know."

He led us into the woods and I was freaking out. I've seen way to many scary movies and you know what happens in these situations? A masked killer comes out of the woods and kills us. I'm too young to die!!!!

"Calm down." wait how did he know I was freaking out?

"You're thinking aloud and we are not going to get killed." he chuckled. I relaxed a little but stayed on guard. I was not going to let us get killed. Not today.

"Okay close your eyes." I did exactly what I was suppose to do. He then took my hand and started lightly pulling me to the mystery place.

"Alright duck your head," I did as told then we came to a stop. "open your eyes." I slowly opened them and a look of astonishment appeared on my face.

Austin had driven us out of town, through the woods to a beautiful clear spot of land that had a small pond and a hill so high that made you feel like you could touch the stars.

"It's amazing," I looked to him and he was already looking down at me. "how did you find this?"

"Before I was born my dad would always take my mom here. She told me it was his favorite place." he paused and turned his attention away from me to the ground. "after my dad died my mom was really depressed but she had me to get her out of it. So once every month we'd have a picnic out here," he look back at me "but about a year later we stopped coming. You know the first time I saw this place I fell in love. So why not bring the girl I love to the place I love?" my eyes got big. Did he just admit to loving me? "Loving as a sister." he smiled to me. I relaxed from his comment but I was also a little hurt.

"Lets go look at the stars." We made our way up the hill. When we reached the top I looked at the view. It was gorgeous, not only could you see the twinkling stars but you could see the bright city lights. The beautiful thing about the view was you could see the city but everything in it was on mute. It was like an escape for the real world. A break from reality.

We lied down flat, side by side, and gazed the stars. Every now and then one of us would point out a constellation. But other than that all you could here was the sound of the crickets, the small waves in the pond, the ruffle of the tree leaves, and an occasional frog. We didn't really need to stay anything because our surroundings did it for us. I can see why Austin loves this place so much.

The breeze started picking up and I moved closer to him, my sweatshirt wasn't getting the job done. He put his arm around me and I put my head on his chest. All the sounds coming from around us slowly disappeared as I tuned in on the beat of his heart. It was fast but his breathing patterns were steady.

I was slowly drifting off to sleep and Austin knew it. He picked me up bridal style then carried me to the car.

I was still asleep but not fully when he got me out of the car and started making his way to my room. He laid my down on my bed then pulled the covers over me.

"I know you're asleep right now so you won't hear what I'm about to say but, I am madly in love with you. You're a drug that I've gotten addicted to, and the thing is that I don't mind." he said in a soft whisper that'd drive any girl wild. Austin planted a kiss on my cheek and exited my room.

And all I could think was that

I love him too.
