Chapter 1

She wandered over the beach, looking for useful pieces of wood, shells or anything else that she could use. She was humming a song that her mother used to sing for her. She didn't remember all the words -which she hated herself for- but she liked singing. She picked up a few leaves that were floating in the water. Her footsteps betrayed where she came from. She preferred to be early in the morning, because she didn't like hot sand. Or actually, she didn't like walking on it. Now the sand was still cool, embracing her toes while she walked. She had enough reasons to be sad, yet she danced along the coast. Wait. What's that?

She froze. It couldn't be. Every reason to be sad came back to her, every memory, every moment. From the moment she last saw her mom to the earliest moment she could remember. Was she still dreaming? Slowly she moved her feet towards it. Somewhere in the back of her mind she knew this was just another dream. When she came close enough she could see him. This was no dream. She sat down, leaning over him with curiosity. She put her hand on his heart to feel if he was alive, yet she did not take her eyes of his face. His eyes were closed. She came closer to his eyes, wondering what color they would be when they opened. And they did. He opened his eyes so quick she fell back in the sand from the shock.

She felt around her, feeling the wooden floor of her hut. She leaned her head on the palm of her hand. So it actually was a dream after all? She looked up, staring through one of her windows-without-glass. It was morning, probably 7 AM. She stood up while smoothening her dress and walking through the doorway. She washed herself in the blue-green ocean, then returned to comb her hair. She could hear her father tell her: "You are my princess." The younger version of her own voice asked him: "Then why am I your princess daddy?" With a bright smile he told her: "Because you have the most precious smile and beautiful hair I've ever seen." Everytime he said that, she was flattered. It caused her to smile instantly. She had never forgotten how he praised her hair, and that was the reason why she brushed it every single day. In the morning and in the evening. Just so he wouldn't be disappointed when he saw her again. Deep inside her heart she knew she was fooling herself, but it gave her a good feeling. Looking at the sun, Elisabeth walked out again and started picking up pieces of wood, some old garbage that could somehow reach this island and she dragged out the occasional branches that must have snapped the night before. Actually, today she wasn't going on the other side of the island, because it would take way too long to walk the whole coast. However, she wanted to check the place where the man was in her dreams. These dreams only came when it stormed, and everytime it stormed she got hope again. Hope that someone would be there to save her, or even just to accompany her. Her feeling was right when Beau nearly drowned.

Suddenly her heart jumped. She was right! It was right! He was there! Not good for him, she pitied him right away, but how sad it might be for him, she secretly liked it. Beau came flashing in her mind, the last time she saw him, he wore this nervous smile. How she hated him. Again, Elisabeth looked at the young man. He looked around the same age as she was, maybe a bit older. Probably 17. She sat next to him, checking his heart rate. This time his eyes didn't open, nor did she dare to come close to them, remembering the shock he gave her this night. Which he actually didn't, because it was just a dream. But whatever. His heart rate was quite ok, though he would definitely burn if he would lay there till he woke up. So she shove her hands under his upper arms, pulling him slowly -he was quite heavy- under the trees. Then she realized his arm was cut and there also was a wound on his back. She knew that if he would be laying in the sand, the wound would only be infected. She let out a sigh, and took him on her shoulders. She thought she was going to break her shoulders if she didn't hurry, so she walked as fast as she could to her hut.

'Hello?' She asked when she saw him move. She was cleaning the wound on his back with water from the lake. His eyebrows moved as if he was angry and his eyelids lifted a bit. He took a deep breath, or at least he tried, and brought his hands to his face. With difficulty, he opened his eyes further, revealing some deep blue eyes.

'There is sand in my nose.' He mumbled softly, trying to sit up. She pushed him down with a slow motion.

'Don't sit up, you might get dizzy and you will get a terrible headache.' Elisabeth told him.

'I already have a headache.'

'Then it will get worse.' He frowned, looking at her.

'Do I actually know you?' He whispered, probably because he couldn't talk really loud.

'No, you don't.' He grabbed my hand and attempted on shaking it.

'William Mitchell, nice to meet you.' He said.

'Elisabeth. Elisabeth Green.' She said.

'Pretty name, can I call you Elisa? You can call me Will. Everyone does that.'

'Well, if you want.., Will.' He smiled.

'You are so cute.' He pushed the wrong button.

'Just how am I cute?' Elisa asked.

'You have an adorable Brittish accent.'

'Yeah right, now go to sleep as you will definitely need your rest.' She stood up and walked outside to gather some food. He watched her go.

'What did I say?' He asked himself out loud.

When she came back with berries and water, he was gone. 'Will?' She shouted.

'Yes? I am over here!' He yelled back, waving from the beach. She put the food in her hut and went to him. 'Where are we?' Will asked , looking over sea.

'If only I knew.' He looked at her like she had gone mad.

'What did you just say?'

'I said I didn't know. You're on an island, probably far away from the civilisation.' She answered perfunctory. Now -she could tell from the look on his face- he had declared her officially insane.

'Right. Well, why won't you continue with whatever you were doing, then I'll search for the "civilisation".' He didn't believe her.

'You don't trust me, do you?' Elisa asked, a bit angry. Will shook his head.

'I'm sorry darling, it's not you I do not trust, it's your mind that I do not trust.' He said with a smirk.

'Right. Well then, I advise you not the get lost on this island because everything looks like each other.' She said.

'I'm sure I can handle it, just who do you think you are? What do you know about this island?' Challenging her.

'I'm the one that has spend more than half of her live over here, and I can tell you I know everything you do not.' With that, she walked away, leaving Will watching her go.
