Chapter 18
Just when they finished the raft, Elisa turned around.
'Hang on, I just need to get something.' She said, and she ran back to the house. She grabbed a small sack from her room and ran back again.
Putting her hands on her knees and leaning forward, she took a few deep breaths. 'I'm back.' She had ran quite fast. Will chuckled.
'What did you take?' He asked, ignoring the view he had down her shirt when she had leaned forward. She wouldn't appreciate him staring at her chest, that was for sure. She looked up, Will was slightly blushing from the thoughts that had entered his mind. She stood up and shrugged.
'Just some seeds. If we ever reach the land, I want to make sure this was not a dream. Or a nightmare.' She said, stuffing the sack in the chestpocket of his button-downshirt. He grinned.
'Do you really think this is a nightmare?' He questioned, acting like he was really hurt. Elisa fell for it, she was so naïve.
'No, I'm sorry Will, I didn't mean it like that. It's just that I don't like the island and...' She really pitied him, she was so sweet. He scooped her up in his arms bridal style and put her down on the raft. She gasped when he did so.
'I think it was quite nice here, except for all the pain it caused me. However, I think they are missing us on the mainland. And we can't ditch them, that would be mean.' He said, making it sound like this island was their choice. Elisa slapped him playfully on the chest.
'You totally faked that you were hurt!' She said a bit whiny, but still smiling. Will ignored this with a smugly smile plastered on his face. He pushed the raft in the sea, as far as he could walk. Then he lifted himself on the raft and they started paddling.
'Tell me something about you.' Will said, looking at the ocean they were floating on.
'What should I tell you?' She asked, frowning a bit. She was also staring at the water. The sun was reflected and the light shimmered on the water.
'Anything.' He said, shrugging. He just wanted to talk about something, they couldn't stay silent the entire time.
'You go first.' She lifted her eyebrows shortly, proud of the way she dodged the question.
'Alright.' Will said, glad she didn't tell him just a plain no. 'Ehm. I have a two sisters. One of them is twenty years old, the other one is my twin, she is almost eightteen. My oldest sister is called Caroline. My twin sister, who is 7 minutes and 23 seconds younger than I, is called Michelle.' Elisa laughed at the exactness of how much older he was. 'Your turn.'
'I'm the only child my parents have. I have a cousin though, she is really nice. She's called Christine.' Will listened and told her something about himself again.
'I love playing baseball, soccer, basketball and swimming. Oh, and I love cooking and baking. I grew up with it.' She bit her lip when he mentioned the cooking part.
'I love cooking as well, and I also grew up with it.' She said, looking at him. He smiled.
'Looks like we have something in common then.' He patted her shoulder. 'Sooner or later you'll realize we were made for each other.' She ignored him. 'So, do your parents also own a lot of restaurants in the U.S.A.?' He asked jokingly. She didn't think it was funny though.
'Yes, they do.' She answered slowly, keeping her eyes fixed on Will. It was like she was his twin. If they would have looked alike, she would have believed it. Will's smile disappeared.
'It's almost like we are family.' He said softly.
'But I don't have a long lost brother.'
'And I don't have a long lost sister.'
