Chapter 8

Elisa ignored his face, that had suddenly turned pityful. She didn't like him pitying her. 'Let me remove your bandage.' She said to break the tense atmosphere. Will undid his pants, which made Elisa look away.

'Elisa, you don't have to look away you know.' Will said, grinning.

'I'd rather do so though.' She said gazing over to the sun that was nearly touching the sea.  Will turned her head by laying two fingers on her chin.

'Do I have to take the bandage of?' Will offered. He secretly wished she'd say no, as her cold fingers could send tingles all over his body. She swallowed.

'No, don't worry, I'll do it.' She had put it on as well, and she wanted to make sure it was healed properly. Her fingers found the back of the bandage and she undid it. She gently lifted the edge of the moss. Grateful that the red spot was gone, she took it off. She threw the moss in the fire, and put the bandage in a bowl of water above the fire.

'Why are you doing that, Elisa?'

'Killing germs.' Will didn't ask any further questions, which she was thankful for. Explaining Beau had taught her so much would make her feel... deceived.

'Elisa?' Will asked after a short silence.

'Yes, Will?' She answered, staring at the fire.

'What was all the writing on the cliff?' Elisa bit her lip. Nice. Now she still had to tell him about Beau.

'Beau taught me physics, maths, english, geography and a bit of chemistry.'

'Is he still here?' Will dared to ask. At least he could find out if he lived somewhere else on the island, got lost in the cave or maybe died.

'No, he is not.' Elisa anwered. She answered short, but her mom had told her that a true lady never answered with one word, no matter where she was. Which made her "no", a "no he is not". Will resisted asking where he went, and why he didn't take Elisa with him. The expression on her face was a bit hurt, and he didn't want to dig up her past if she wasn't ready for it.

'I can teach you. I can continue with what he started.' Elisa looked up from the fire.

'Really?'

'Yeah. I don't know how much I can teach you, as I don't know what he taught you already, but...' He stopped, as he didn't know what to finish his sentence with.

'I'd love to learn more.' She said. Will smiled at her. It made her feel good. It was a feeling she could not really place, something she had never felt before.

'Did Beau also teach you to paint?' Elisa frowned.

'Of course not, Beau is the worst painter that ever set foot on this island!' Will laughed.

'And just how many people have been on this island?' He asked with one eyebrow raised and the other down.

'Nobody knows, The minimum is three.'

'Three in how many years?'

'Nine years, ten months and fourteen d...' She shut her mouth and put her hand in front of it. 'I, did not just say that.' She whispered to herself. Will chuckled.

'Yes you did.' Will whispered in her ear. 'So how come you know so exactly?' He asked, getting away from her ear and talking a bit louder. Elisa stood up.

'I am going to bed, see you tomorrow.' She quickly ran to the house, before Will could ask any more questions.

Will stood up and walked inside. When he passed Elisa's room, his eyes set on Elisa, who lay on her bed. She was definitely cold, though she seemed to struggle not to show it. Her hand was holding her arm. He could see the goosebumps on her legs. He took his shirt and walked back to her room. His shirt was quite clean, as he hadn't worn it when he had walked away. Sitting down on her bed, he put a hand on her arm.

'Elisa?' She turned her head and met his eyes.

'I am not going to tell you everything. Get over it.' She said, a bit surly.

'I don't want to know everything.' He mentally slapped himself. Of course he did, he just wasn't here to ask. He lay down next to her, staring at the ceiling. She jumped to get out of her bed. 'I just wanted to offer you my shirt, as you seemed cold.'

'Ow.. Thank you.' She took the shirt he was offering her and pulled it over her head. It was a cream colored button-downshirt. It was way to large for her, it was even a bit too large for Will. It reached halfway her tighs. The long sleeves were so nice and warm.

'Why can't I lay next to you?' He asked, sitting up. She sat down next to him.

'I just don't want to get children already.' She said softly. He smiled.

'You don't get children from lying next to each other.'

'Then how come my mother said that if two people sleep with each other they get a baby?' Will scratched the back of his head. Her serious face almost made him laugh, but he knew she wouldn't like it if he laughed at her.

'You don't get children from sleeping together, nor from hugging or kissing. It's... something else. Something special.'

'Something that happens very easily when two people sleep together.' She added to his sentence. If only she knew what she was talking about.

'Not very easily. Only if both of them want it to happen.' Will said.

'I, I just want you to go back to your room.' Will stood up. 'But thanks for your shirt.' She added. Elisa had this way of looking cute and vulnerable. She obviously didn't know it as she seemed uncomfortable under his gaze.

'You can keep it.' Will said, and kissed her forehead. Her eyes followed his bare back out of her room.
