Chapter 10
Elisa woke up next to William. His arms were wrapped around her. She wanted to get out of his arms, but it felt so good. There were no words to explain how warm and protecting it felt.
His eyes opened, a smile formed. 'Good morning Elisa.' He said, pulluing his arms back.
'Good morning, happyface.' She turned on her back, looking at the ceiling. She couldn't help but notice Will staring at her. 'What are you looking at?' She asked nervously.
'You.' He said. She turned around, facing him again.
'I don't like it.'
'I'm sorry.' He whispered. Elisa stood up and climbed over him. 'But I can't stop.' He added. She scowled at him.
'Why not?' She took her hairbrush, as far as it could be called a hairbrush when you made it yourself, and started brushing her hair. He grinned at her British accent.
'Because you're so pretty.' She rolled her eyes.
'And because I'm the only person you can actually stare at, apart from yourself.'
'Hey, if you were ugly I'd rather stare at myself all day.' He smiled a smugly smile when she rolled her eyes again. 'Here, let me brush it.' He said when her brush got stuck at the back.
'No, I'll get it out.'
'You still don't trust me, do you?' He asked, acting like he was hurt.
'Why would you think that?' She knew it was true, of course she couldn't trust him.
'Because you won't let me brush your hair.' She gave him the hairbrush.
'Are you happy now?'
'Do you trust me?'
'Yes, kind of.' She said. Which was the twisted truth.
'Tell me everything about Beau.' He felt her body get tense. She was quiet, he figured she had to think of a good excuse not to tell him. But he would get her to tell it today.
'You are already brushing my hair.' she finally said. Was that everything she could come up with? What about a plain no? Or something about how he was a fantasy? This was too easy.
'But you trust me, so you can tell.'
'Maybe I don't want to tell.' So she had better arguments.
'You would have told me if you trusted me.' He said back. It didn't hurt so much as he tried to show, but it hurt enough. Why couldn't she just tell him? What was her problem?
'Alright.' She let out a sigh. Elisa finally realized she wouldn't get away from him without telling. 'But we have to fish first.'
Will stood in the water, his pant rolled up to his knees. 'So will you tell me now?' He asked. They were finished fishing. Elisa bit her lip. She kind of sort of hoped that he would forget.
'Beau came here three years ago. He never told how he got on the island, but I just found him on the beach one day. He could have been my father, I estimated him to be fifty-five years old. As I already told you, he was a doctor. But he also knew a lot about maths and physics. He helped me improve my hut, he taught me efficient ways to fish, and we made a map of the island. We were focused on staying here, on the island, for ever. I made a guide with all the kinds of food on the island, and showed him around. I told him all I knew about the island. He told me all he knew about the world. He told me about his daughters, about his wife and about his dog. You have no idea how much I loved his stories. They took me back again. They kept the memory of the rest of the world alive. When I was twelve, I had already forgotten so much. In the six years that I spent on the island, I managed to keep the most valuable memories alive.' She swallowed. Will grabbed her hand.
'But when he came, I realized how much I bent the truth in all those years. My mom was shaped by my imagination, my father had spoken words that do not exist. Not in the English language, but neither in any other language as Beau told me. The way Beau talked to me, Will. The way he talked to me. It was just like he cared. About me. He was so... nice. Back then.' She stopped, wiped a tear away and took her hand back.
'I wish I could say Beau was not a nice man. Or a bad person. But he wasn't. He helped me for two months and nineteen days. He was always nice and respectful. He has taught me so much, he made me feel so much better. I really wish he would have been meaner. I wish I could have screamed at him. But Beau was always nice. Polite. Helpful. He never, ever would have betrayed me. As he told me. I trusted him. I trusted him with all my heart. I knew he wouldn't do something like that.' She squeezed her eyes shut and frowned.
'What happened?' Will asked. He was curious.
'I have only seen two helicopters fly past this island in my whole life. When I was seven, the first one flew past. I tried to scream and yell, make fires, dance, jump, climb in the highest tree but he just couldn't see me. All I saw was a black spot, and all he saw was sea.' Will already felt what was up with helicopter-story.
'Did he...?' Will started. Elise nodded.
'The second helicopter came two months and nineteen days after I had met Beau. As soon as he heard the soft sound of the helicopter he threw more wood on the small fire. He took all the furniture, except for our beds. He took some special leaves that created dark smoke and soon the helicopter noticed him.' She let out a sigh.
'Of course I was diving on the other side of the island, and Beau had told me he was just going to get something real quick. And while I was under water, getting some coral for his medical guide, he got in the helicopter. I don't know why he didn't tell I was on the island, or why the pilot didn't wait or take a closer look at the island. I have never understood why it happened that way. I never understood why I stayed on the island. And I never understood how he could betray me. How he could stab me in the back. Of course we had some fights sometimes, but they were never major. They were not worth a whole life on a forsaken island.' Will couldn't understand it either.
'
'Elisa?' Elisa didn't look up, and kept staring at the sea.
'Yes, Will?' He realized she never spoke with one word. She was so cute.
'I just want to let you know that I would never do such a thing to you.' Elisa bit her lip.
'Just like Beau told me.'
'Elisa, you can trust me.'
'Just like I could trust Beau.' She whispered. He leaned closer, till his lips nearly touched hers.
'I love you.' He leaned closer and kissed her on her lips. Elisa quickly wriggled backwards and stood up. She brushed the sand from her, no, Will's shirt. Her eyes were big. Never had Will seen a girl so frightened and upset by something he did. Not even the screams on Halloween could compete with her. She walked around chaotically and kept messing with her hair. He saw she wanted to cry, her lip was trembling.
'We should, ehm, get to work or something.' She managed to say, avoiding his eyes at all costs.

Heeey guys! I just wanted to let you know that I really appreciate that some of you are fanning, voting and commenting. I've also noticed some people adding it to their reading lists, which is definitely a good thing :D. The number of reads was 148 this morning (for me it's morning -8.31 AM- ) and I think that's just AWESOME. I know it's not that much when you look at all the other stories, but there were over a hundred people that clicked on my very first Wattpadstory! MY story! I just want to thank you, for considering to read my story. Just the idea that some of you look at my cover and think: 'Hmm, that sounds interesting!'
Sorry that I'm acting so hyper, like I had too much sugar or something -which I did not, all I have eaten yet is a banana-. Sugar is not my drug, you are! You make me so happy by reading. Maybe it's just a morning-thing. For me. Alright, I'm gonna ditch this overhappiness and write. You might think: 'Write?' But yeah. You caught me, I wrote the author's note before the actual chapter. I couldn't resist. The magic of an empty sheet of paper (HALLELUJAH!)
Reason for the early-morning update (yes, this is early for me)? I'm going shopping with my friends this afternoon. We don't do that a lot so I'm very excited. Yeah. I'll just... alright, you've probably already skipped the page. Who reads the author's notes anyway -except for me- ?
