Chapter 15
'You know Will?' Elisa said, pushing the raft towards the ocean.
'Hmm?' Will was helping her to push.
'This is a lot easier when you are helping.' He grinned at her comment, climbing on the raft. She did the same.
'Have you tried before?' He pushed them away from the shallow part with his feet. She stared at her toes.
'Yes. The first year. It was terrible. I went through...'
'Hell.' He finished for her. She looked up at him, staring right into his eyes.
'Pretty much.' She said softly. He tried to paddle with his hands.
'It's quite cold.'
'What are you talking about?' It was not cold at all, he had spent the past few weeks on a tropical island and he thought it was cold? Of all things. Cold. She raised an eyebrow.
'The water. The water is cold.' She was helping him paddle with her hands, and she found it very refreshing.
'Don't you like it?' He gazed at her hands, paddling along with his.
'I do. I'm just saying it's cold.'
'Well it's probably because of the storm. But if it's too cold I will paddle, or you shall be sick.' Elisa looked worried. He grinned.
'I shall be sick?' He questioned, raising his eyebrows at her.
'It is possible.' She shrugged, not understanding what he was trying to accomplish. He laughed.
'Yeah, I know.' Will laughed again.
'What is so funny?' She asked, frustrated with him making fun of her. 'I do not like being laughed at, so don't be childish!'
'I just think your British accent is ah-dorable!' Will tried to imitate her accent, which he could do quite good. But the female version of his voice was horrible, and he sounded more like a posh, tea-drinking, fifty cats-having, old lady. Which was so not what Elisa sounded like. Right?
'Yes, I know. Shall we drink a cup of tea when we get to my house?' Elisa replied, exaggerating her British accent. Will laughed.
'Oh, I would be delighted! I hope you don't have cats though, as I am allergic.' He sniffed his nose loudly. Elisa laughed, but hid it soon for her reply. She pulled a sour face.
'Oh, I am so sorry my dear lady Micheals, but I'd rather not have people in my house that detest my lovely cats. I hope you understand, but we will never get on well.' Elisa put her hand on top of Will's and squeezed it, pulling a sad face. He put his other hand on top.
'I don't mind, my darling lady Green. I never got on well with people that forget my name all the time.' Elisa pouted.
'I'm sorry, Will. I didn't want to insult you, but your name is just so hard to remember and I can't help but say Micheals. I hope you are not angry and you have to know tha...' He leant forwards, putting his arms around her waist. She had stopped talking immediately when she noticed he was coming closer. He closed the distance between them and his nose touched hers. Her muscles became tense, and she became nervous. Just his touch gave her goosebumps and his breath on her lips was paralizing. She was all stiff. But before he could come even closer, she started to talk.
'What.. what are you doing?' Elisa whispered, looking down on his lips, and up to his eyes again. She nearly drowned in those.
'I'm coming closer.' He said, never leaving her eyes. He should have backed away, but he wanted to kiss her so badly. Every part of his body was longing for her kiss, her lips, her soft fingers on his bare back.
'Why?' Stupid question, she knew exactly why. What she was trying to say was "Why am I not stopping you?" But of course she didn't, mentally slapping herself for ignoring her brains.
'Because I want to kiss you.' His lips now nearly touched hers.
'Am I okay with that?' She asked, for once asking the right question. Though not asking the right person.
'Aren't you?' He asked, moving away immediately. 'I... I'm sorry. I know you are not.' He closed his eyes and frowned. 'Why am I so stupid?' He said it softly to the sky, and she wasn't sure if it was meant for her as it was barely audible.
'I don't think you are stupid. I just... am not ready for...' She struggled with her words.
'I get it. I should stop being so pushy.' He looked the other way. Elisa regretted what she had done, because she did like his kisses. Or at least the one she got. However, she knew it was the right thing to do. It had to be. If they were meant to be together, then they would get together eventually. What she had said to him was right; you could change your fate. But it was incredibly hard to do so. You had to be prepared to never give up, keep hope and be persistent. And if fate wanted them to be together, a few rejected kisses wouldn't stop them.
'Elisa?' She looked up, she had been staring at the water.
'Yes, what's wrong?' She asked, immediately noticing the doubt in his voice.
'I think...' She rolled her eyes. Wow, he could think. ' I saw that Elisa! ' She rolled her eyes again, and he imitated her. ' I think we are not going in the right direction.' He said after she grinned. When Elisa looked back, she realized they were floating back to the island.
'Oh no, help me paddle. We came pretty far and I don't want to start at the beginning again!' Her eyes stood worried and her hands fought with the water. Will did the same, but it didn't help. They were forced back to the island.
