Chapter 27
Elisa still couldn't believe it. Christine. Of all people, she had pushed her off the ship. She had caused her nine years of misery. She was the one to blame. Christine was like a sister to her. Elisa trusted her, she shared everything with her. Christine was the one that was supposed to cry the most when she disappeared. And all this time Christine had fooled everyone, acted innocent. All this time Elisa had hoped Christine wouldn't forget her. Was she really such a backstabber? She could barely believe it. The only reason why Christine had apologized was because she thought Elisa already knew she had done it. She thought Elisa had seen her when she stepped on her foot. That was why she had apologized.
Questions formed in Elisa's head. She couldn't help it, she didn't understand. Christine had confessed that she was jealous of Elisa and had wanted to become the heiress, but still Elisa didn't understand. They had been as close as sisters. They had had so much fun together. Had Christine never liked her? Had she always been jealous? Was everything they had shared fake? Had Christine played a game all along? Would she ever have regretted what she had done before this night? What would her face have looked like, had she seen it when she fell of the ship? Had her parents never suspected anything?
Her thought were interrupted by a polite knock on the door. It opened before she could say anything. Was it Michelle? Will? Her dad? Christine?
She was spending the night at the Mitchells. Her father's apartment was quite far, and he had just a small apartment. George Green had thought he had lost it all. Elisa really hoped he was as glad as he seemed that she was back. After her mother died, he must have been terribly alone. Her dad had a mansion in the north of the united kingdom, while the Mitchell's lived in the south. So when he visited, he hired a small apartment in a nearby city.
'Hey.' She heard Will's low voice say. She wasn't feeling like talking to him, because he had betrayed her as well. All this time he had told her he loved her, while he had a pretty girlfriend at home. But she couldn't ignore him. It was one of the basic rules of being a lady; always be polite. And giving someone the silent treatment was just plain rude.
'Hey Will.' She said back. She wasn't facing the door, she was facing the window. She didn't dare to turn around; she didn't want to see him. She just wished he would walk away.
'Can I join you?' He asked, whispering. He closed the door behind him, and only the moonlight lit the room. Will walked towards her, not waiting for her response. He just missed her in his arms at night, it had become an addiction. Was he addicted to this girl?
'No Will, please go away.' She said, moving away from where he was about to lie down.
'Is something wrong?' Will questioned, sitting down on her bed and putting a hand on her shoulder.
'Sarah told me, Will. I know you are her boyfriend.' Elisa said, coming straight to the point. She turned around and sat down next to him. 'So stop acting like you care about me, because I know you are getting engaged.' Will's eyebrows shot up in surprise. He was speechless.
'I'm not Sarah's boyfriend, Elisa. Sarah has been my best friend since kindergarten, along with Michelle. She lives next to us in the United States. I don't know why she came with my family to England, but it's not because she is my soon-to-be wife. I'm not in love with her, Elisa.' He said, putting an arm around her and kissing her cheek.
'Then why did she tell me she was?' Elisa asked, not really believing Will.
'I told you this world was full of bad things, right? Jealousy is a bad thing, Elisa. Everyone would love to be in our position. Don't you understand? Marry me; marry money. Kill you; have a bigger chance of becoming the new heiress. Our parents are very rich, and the companies are worth millions. We live in a world where everything is about money.'
'I want to go back to the island. I miss the peace and the silence. I thought it was bad, but it was by far not as stressful as the mainland. The only people I'll miss are Michelle and my dad.' A tear rolled down Elisa's cheek. Will wiped it away, lie down and pulled her next to him. He held her, like he had done every night.
'It was worth it, Elisa. You just don't know yet. You have to get a bit accostumed to it, but everything will be alright. So what if two people acted jealous towards you? Christine is going to get sued if your dad ever sees her again, and Sarah is not worth all the worries. I love you. Don't ever forget that, okay?' Will said, looking in her eyes. They were filled with tears that had yet to fall.
'But you could have loved me on the island, without jealousy.'
'But then there would be no Michelle and no Mr. Green. And you just returned! There will be tons of nice people that you haven't even met yet. Not everyone is bad.' He put a strand of hair behind her ear and kissed her forehead. His arm was still around her, because he knew it made her feel comfortable and safe. She would always put her head against his chest or shoulder. She entangled her legs with his and kissed him quickly on his lips.
'I love you, Will.' She snuggled into his arms and closed her eyes.
'I love you more.' He whispered, when she was already asleep.

'Hey Elisa, you're early.' Michelle said when she entered the kitchen. 'In for some shopping today?' She asked, pouring some orange juice from the fridge for both of them.
'Couldn't sleep but yes, that sounds fun.' She answered, accepting the glass from Michelle.
'Alright then. So I got a wonderful idea last night.' She got some bread from a cupboard and put it on the table, along with cheese and nutella.
'Tell me.' Elisa said, buttering a slice of bread.
'Well, Will told me you kind of missed years of school. So I figured I could teach you the things your mom would have thought you, and we could borrow some books from a school to teach you english, maths, biology and that kind of stuff.' She said, taking a bit of her sandwich. 'The Christmas break is in a few weeks, in which we could do the most important information. Then after the break, you can join in our school. My dad or your dad will take care of that. You're fifteen right?'
'Sixteen. I turned sixteen on the raft.' Elisa answered.
'Well, I think that makes you a Junior. One of the youngest, but I think you'll be a Junior. Will and I are Seniors; is that a problem?' She asked. Elisa shook her head. 'If you're smart we might get you in the Senior year, but you'll have to do a lot of work just to keep up with the Juniors.'
'So where is everybody?' Elisa asked, changing the subject.
'Mom is preparing for the press conference this afternoon, dad is handling some emergency in the new restaurant and will went... out or something. Have you planted the seeds?' Michelle was not really interested in what Will was doing.
'Yeah, Will and I put them on the windowsill in the hallway upstairs.' Elisa said.
'Cool. So are you ready for the press conference?'
'After we go shopping.' Elisa said, sticking her father's credit card in the air. He had explained how it worked, and had told her to buy enough clothes for herself. Michelle had already explained what she needed; basics, bussiness clothes, party clothes and casual clothes. She ha figured out which colors looked good on Elisa and had taught her already how to walk on the highest heels in her wardrobe.
Michelle stood up, showing off her body with skinny jeans and a tight, cream shirt with a beautiful necklace. She was wearing a brown cardigan, the same color as her high heels. She grabbed a bag and her coat, lending another one to Elisa.
'Let's go, my new friend.' Michelle said, linking her arm with Elisa's. Elisa couldn't help but smile at that.
Michelle was her first friend since she had come back.
