Chapter 19- Skype Conference
Emma's POV~Day after Article was published.
Hailie has been depressed ever since we left London. She wouldn't even come out of her room for a 'Sandlot' movie marathon, so Vera and I knew it was bad. She was love-sick. We all were, though. Vera had to leave Zayn and they had become best friends and I had to leave Niall. We texted and skyped but it wasn't the same. I even stopped eating as much since we left.
A ping from my phone made me snap back into reality. I picked it up. Niall was calling.
"Jello?" I answered.
"What was going through her head when she wrote that about my mate? He loved her and she goes and disgraces him in a public magazine? She is a rotten skank and I'm glad she left!" He shouted through the phone.
"Hold on a minute, mister! I read what Hailie wrote and in no way did it 'disgrace' him. And further more that 'rotten skank' is my best friend and she loved him back! She is always moping around here because of how things went. Hailie is sorry she lied and you should be ashamed of yourself for saying such things about her!" I yelled back. No one says that about my friend and gets away from it. NO ONE.
"What do you mean it doesn't disgrace him? She called him a pampered pretty boy who has as much talent as a stick in the mud. That doesn't sound like sorry to me!"
"Pampered pretty boy? Uh, I never read that in the article she showed me and I was there when she sent it in. Are you sure you didn't read someone else's story? She said he had windpipes that would make Paul Rodgers jealous!"
"I didn't see that anywhere amongst all the slander and hate she wrote."
"Quit saying that she wrote it! She didn't write one bad thing about Harry. I'm telling you, you read the wrong article."
"I know what I read, Em. Skype me and I'll show you the magazine."
"Fine, I'm going to a computer now. Get on."
"I'm there. I'm hanging up now." The phone call went dead. I signed into Skype and Niall sent a request.
"Look, it says right here!" He pointed to a portion of the page. He put it closer to the screen. It said it right there on the page. I couldn't believe that she would write something like this, but her name was right at the bottom.
"Okay, I'm done reading. That doesn't sound right. I don't believe it," I shook my head at him.
"HAILIE! VERA!" I yelled.
"You're at her house?" Niall asked.
"Of course, she is in a desperate state. Poor thing."
"Niall, I've missed you!" Vera hollered, putting her face all the way to the screen.
"Haha, I've missed you guys, too," Niall laughed.
"What do you want?" Hailie asked, shuffling into the room. She had on pajamas and she was wrapped in a blanket. She looks like crap. And I'm being nice.
"You're article came out yesterday," Niall told her. Thank goodness he wasn't screaming at her like he did me. She wouldn't have been able to handle it.
"Oh," was all she said. She looked at her feet.
"Did he read it?" she whispered so softly that we almost didn't hear her voice crack when she said 'he'.
"Yeah, he didn't like what you wrote, Hailie. You used him and then you write that trash about 'im? You aren't the person we thought you were," Niall said in a menacing voice.
"What are you talking about?" Vera and Hailie asked at the same time. Here we go again.
"See for yourself," he answered and held the magazine up again.
"I'm going to murder somebody," Hailie growled as she stalked out of the room. I heard her door slam. Crap was fixing to go down.
"Vas happening?" Zayn asked out of view from the camera.
"Zaynster!" Vera yelled and almost face planted into the screen when he appeared a few feet behind Niall.
"Vear-bear!" Zayn yelled back, grinning like a fool. They had nicknames for each other. How freaking cute.
"Um guys, what is Hailie doing?" Niall asked, pointing behind us. I turned around and saw Hailie heading toward the bathroom with clothes in her hand.
"She is going to bathe! She hasn't since we left London," Vera exclaimed.
"Yeah, she has been very stinky!" I added, laughing.
"But truly, she has been very depressed lately," Vera suddenly got serious. We are worried about her. She hasn't been eating right.
"So has Harry. He's gutted," Zayn frowned.
"They love each other. Stupid editor had to go and screw with Hailie's confidence and everything, she wouldn't have even wrote an article for them if they hadn't said it would ruin her future if she didn't. Those skunk-bags," Vera rambled on. We talked about our grieving friends a few more minutes, until the guys had to go.
"Aright, bye Zayn! Text you later Niall! " I waved.
"Peace out, punks!" Vera yelled sticking her tongue out at them.
"Ahahaha, Vera I love you," Zayn laughed. His face went beet red.
"Bye!" He shouted and clicked off.
"What was that?" I asked turning to Vera.
"What, what chicken butt!" She yelled and ran from the room.
