Chapter 8

I went home after school. I wanted to practice as much magic as I could. My sister was coming after me and I had no idea when. She was going to kill me, if I didn't stop her. My parents were in the living room. My mom's face was flushed. My dad's fists were clenched. They looked angry.

"What's going on?"

"Nothing." My mom breathed.

"Were you fighting?" I asked.

"No. It's just that your sister has been home for a day and she's already in trouble." My dad explained.

"For what?"

"She verbally assaulted a teacher." My mom answered me.

"We have to go to the school."

"I'll stay here." I hurried for the stairs. I heard silent shouts downstairs.

"Tiffany isn't going to get better." My mom declared.

"And it almost seems like Cheksey is falling into her footsteps." My dad sighed.

"We can't let Chelsey go down that path."

"What do you have in mind?" My dad asked.

"There's nothing we can do." My mom sounded defeated.

"I don't like that we lied to Chelsey." My dad admitted.

"That we don't know who the curse is going to take. I feel bad too."

"Maybe we should tell them."

"I don't think it would matter. It would just freak them out. You can't hide from destiny." I stood near the stairs. They know who is going to be killed. How long have they known?

"I guess you're right." My dad agreed.

"When they fight, who do you think will win?" My mom asked.

"I really don't know. Whenever you think you know something, something else happens."

"We need to get to the school." I heard them leave. I ran to my room and sat on my bed. This whole battle with me and Tiffany is happening. It was coming faster than I wanted. The only thing I could do was prepare. I opened the book and read through it. My sister would be home soon and every second with her was a surprise. You never knew what was coming.
