Chapter 18

A couple days later, Leo, Stanley, and I met at a park down the road from the coffee shop. Leo shifted uncomfortably in his seat. Stanley smiled at us.

"What can I do for you?" He offered.

"Help us stop Tiffany."

"Didn't you just do that? We lost horribly." He didn't seem very convinced.

"We need a better plan."

"Do you have one?" Leo asked.

"Yes. I'm going to fight her."

"What if she's stronger than you?" Stanley asked.

"I'll deal with that then. I've been practicing magic for almost five months now."

"You could practice more until you're 18th birthday." Leo suggested.

"I'm only 17. My birthday is a year away. I can't wait that long. She obviously isn't."

"Would your parents assist you?" Stanley studied me.

"No, I don't think they can." My parents might have given up on us.

"So, it's just the three of us?"

"Don't you catch on quick." Leo simpered.

"No offense, Leo, but what can you possibly do to help Chelsey?" Stanley glared at him.

"I can help her more than you can." Leo growled.

"If this is going to work, you guys need to be able to work together." I broke in.

"I'm willing too. Are you?" Stanley looked at Leo. He held out his hand.

"Okay." Leo shook his hand. Stanley gave him a small smile. Leo made an effort to return it.

"Thank you." They nodded.

"How do you I come into play here?" Stanley returned his attention to me.

"You could tell me all about what Tiffany was doing for the last two years."

"I've only known her for a year and a half. In that time she's been practicing spells, traveling, shopping, and flirting with many guys." Stanley informed me.

"I thought you two were together."

"You should know better than anyone that your sister has her own set of rules."

"You just dealt with it?" I knew I shouldn't care about their relationship, but Stanley deserved better.

"I never really had a choice in the matter. Tiffany likes to control everything." There was little bit of sadness in his blue eyes.

"I'm sorry." I  mumbled.

"It's not your fault. You seem to be a much better person than she is." He concluded. He smiled at me. Something in him seemed to shift. Leo noticed this too. He returned to glaring at Stanley. I decided to change the subject.

"Did my sister say anything unusual or interesting? Anything that could help us?"

"Tiffany was always unusual. She keep secrets and dig into people's lives. She'd play with people too." He responded.

"She loves games." I agreed.

"She'd get into people's minds. Sometimes she'd use magic to do it."

"Thank you for helping me, but I already knew about Tiffany's games." He closed his eyes and tried to think harder.

"She'd talk a lot about you. It sounded like you were the only person she ever loved."

"She loves herself a lot more, since she's willing to kill me." I stood. "Thanks Stanley for all of your help."

"I want to help more. When are you fighting your sister? I'll be there to help you."

"I'll let you know." Stanley left us. Leo looked happy to see him go.
