Chapter 21
I ran home to find Tiffany. Stanley was right behind me. When I got there, no one was home. I went to Tiffany's room and opened the door. It was empty.
"Maybe she's at a friends' house." Stanley suggested.
"I don't think she would be."
"What should we do next?" I started searching through her room. Her shelves were pretty empty. I looked in her cabinets. They were full of papers and notebooks.
"What are you looking for?" Stanley asked.
"Anything. I guess."
Stanley shook his head. "Chelsey, there's no point anymore. There is absolutely nothing you could find that could change anything. Even if you did find something, you'd still have to fight her. You'd still have to deal with the outcome of the fight."
"You're right." I stood and went to the door. "Thank you, Stanley." He nodded. I turned and came face to face with Tiffany. She looked a little surprised.
"What are you looking for?" She asked.
"When did you get home?"
"A few minutes ago." She studied me and smiled. "How about we go for a drive?"
"Fine."
"Stanley, why don't you stay here?" I heard the phone ring and hurried to answer it.
"Chelsey, it's Leo."
"Leo, are you okay? What's going on?" There was panic in my voice.
"They're getting me a lawyer. My parents are here. Where are you?"
"My sister wants to end this now and so do I. I know you wanted to be here, but I don't think we have a choice."
"It's fine. Be careful." He hung up.
"Let's go." My sister ordered. Stanley and I exchanged looks. I nodded and we left. I pulled out my phone to text Stanley. Go to the police station and help Leo. Please!
My phone chimed and a text appeared on the screen. You love him, don't you?
What? I responded.
You love Leo. I can tell.
Stanley, do what I asked. I wrote back.
The way you look at him. Anyone could tell.
Please! Just go to the police station.
We'll finish this later. I put away my phone. Tiffany held the passenger door open for me. I climbed inside and she went to her door. We drove for ten minutes and finally, she pulled the car to a stop. Silence fell between us.
"What happens next?" I asked.
"We fight to the death."
