Chapter 12

Friday afternoon, I walked home with Leo. I told him about Stanley Cooper.

"He loves her too?"

"I guess she has that power over men."

"What did you tell him?" He asked.

"To talk to Detective Brians. They've both been a victim of her game."

"Do you think he'll listen?"

"I'm not sure." We entered my house. My mom stood in the kitchen. She had the phone in her hand.

"Someone is on the phone and they're asking for you." She handed it to me.

"Hello?"

"This is Stanley Cooper. I spoke with you yesterday. I did what you asked and talked with Detective Jay Brians."

"What did he say?" I asked.

"He said he loves Tiffany too. You were right, I can't trust her."

"I'm sorry you got hurt from this." I told him.

"It's not your fault. I would like to meet you."

"Can I bring someone with me?"

"Of course." He replied. "There's a cafe on 6th avenue. I'll see you around 5:30."

"Okay. see you there." I hung up and turned to Leo. "We're meeting Stanley Cooper at 5:30."

"You trust him?"

"He seems trustworthy and he doesn't know who I am." I put the phone on the table.

"When he finds out, he'll think you're plotting against him. He might try something." Leo protested.

"He's human. He can't do anything. Plus, we don't have to tell him about our plans."

"Fine, but he better not trick us." Leo gave in.

"We'll be okay, Leo." I assured him.

"I hope so."

5:30, we sat in the cafe on 6th avenue. We ordered drinks and waited for Stanley. Finally, a boy with red hair and blue eyes joined us.

"Are you the girl I talked to on the phone?"

"That's me." I responded.

"I'm Stanley Cooper." We shook hands. "You look like Tiffany, except brighter. Happier. I bet you are Chelsey."

"I am. Please don't think I tricked you. I wouldn't do that."

"I trust you, Chelsey." He smiled.

"You do?"

He nodded. "You're sister points out people's flaws. She'd always say I was too trusting. I don't think that's a flaw. I think it's her flaw she doesn't trust at all."

"She'd say my flaw was that I care to much about people's thoughts and feelings." I admitted.

Stanley looked at Leo with a smile. "I don't think we've met."

"I'm Leo." Leo introduced himself.

"It's nice to meet you, Leo."

"You too."

"Are you Chelsey's boyfriend?" Stanley asked.

"I am." Leo answered him.

"You seem like a good couple." He complimented us.

I smiled."Thank you."

"If you want to know anything about Tiffany from the last two years, I'll tell you what I know." Stanley offered.

"Not to be mean, but how can we trust you?" Leo asked.

"Because Tiffany tried to kill me."
