Chapter 20

Days went by and nothing happened with Tiffany. I'd see her at home and at school. She never said a word to me. She'd just give me this look every time I saw her. The days turned into weeks and finally I was tired of waiting. I was really paranoid. I knew Tiffany could start something at anytime. I hated waiting. In the meantime, I practiced magic with Leo and met with Stanley about Tiffany. Detective Brians was found by the police. His funeral was a few weeks before Halloween. The police are stumped by his death. Some think he was murdered and some think he had a heart attack. One day, Leo, Stanley, and I were getting drinks from the coffee shop. Leo and Stanley were acting like friends.

"Do werewolves eat animals?" Stanley asked.

"Not usually. We normally eat human food." Leo smiled.

"Does it hurt to morph?"

"It used to, but now I feel nothing." Leo replied.

"I think being a werewolf would be amazing." Stanley grinned.

"It's pretty cool." I watched the two boys talk. It was nice to see them be friends instead of being enemies. They talked a while longer.

"Chelsey, what's going on with your sister?"

"I'm not sure. She must be planning something."

"We'll figure it out." Leo took my hand.

"Definitely." Stanley agreed. A police officer walked up to the table. He sat in the chair in front of Leo.

"Leo Payne, may I have a word with you?" She asked.

"Of course."

"September 17, 2011, where were you?"

"I don't remember." Leo's eyebrows creased.

"What happened then?" I asked.

"Terri Norman was killed in a fire. Last May another fire was set on a town owned building. About a month ago, the preschool was set on fire." The policewoman explained.

"What does that have to do with me?"

"Where you at the preschool then?"

"No. I was at...." Leo trailed off. The policewoman stood and hit a button on her radio.

"Leo Payne, you're under arrest for the arson of three buildings and the murder of Terri Norman. You have the right to remain silent." She handcuffed Leo.

"This is a mistake. He didn't do anything." I leaped from my chair. I was about to admit to everything, but the policewoman towed Leo away. Leo looked shocked and scared. She pushed him into the car. I started to follow to tell her I was responsible, but Stanley grabbed my arm.

"You can't stop your sister from jail." He stated.

"I can't let Leo take the blame for all of this." I protested.

"You don't have a choice. Leo will be okay." I knew he was right. And then I realized my sister was responsible for this.

"Stanley, I'm not waiting for my sister to come after me anymore."

"What are you going to do?" He asked.

"I'm going after her myself and I'm going to beat her."
