JanetI had held them both, and played with them both, even fed them and watched them both for a bit. I hadn't decided because it was just a hard choice. They were both just so cute. This had to be one of the hardest choices ever, having to decided between two huffing, puffing, and big eyed puppies. I wanted to get Toni a puppy, especially since I was about to leave... it'll most definitely keep her company while I was gone... even though it was just for a day. But this dog will be apart of the little family we're about to have, and I thought a family pet would be a great addition to the house.
"Is this a dog for your kids? Or a partner, a Family member?" The woman who works at the pet adoption agency asked as she was trying to help me make my decision.
"It's for my wife...a gift just because..." I said as I was staring hard at the Shih tzu, it was something about his eyes that I just couldn't shake. The way he was acting excited but calm at the same time was also a trait I liked about him already. I think I made my decision.
She nods her head as she blinks a few times after I said wife. She probably didn't expect me to say that and I was chuckling on the inside at that. "Okay...well their both great dogs. The Shiz Tzu's life Span beats the Cavalier by two years, and he's already potty trained." She said with a smile and little did she know, I already made my mind up on him.
"Okay.. I want him. I think he's adorable. And I know my wife would love him." I said calling Toni my wife, I just liked the way it sound.
"Okay that's great. I'll get the adoption paperwork started... just follow me..." She started off as she started walking towards her office, I was following closely behind her.
"So how long have you been married? Your wife sure is lucky to have someone as sweet as you bringing her one of the greatest gift of all. A cute four legged critter, whose going to love you and your wife until the end." She said as she went behind her desk, and sat down to get started on the paperwork.
"We're actually not married yet, I just want to get in the habit of calling her my wife. Kinda just wanted to see how it sounded coming from my mouth. And it felt good saying it. I'm going to propose to her pretty soon. I'm just thinking of the perfect way to do it." I said as I sat down, and I watched her going at it on her computer and then she started signing papers that she printed, going through them and asking me to initial here and there.
"Ahhh...that's so cute. So your a hopeless romantic... so am I. Anything loving and gushy I'm all for it. That's so good to hear. I'd admit...I was a little taken back when you said wife. I'll admit. It's still refreshing to see openly gay women nowadays..." She said glancing back and forth from the screen and at me.
