I loved her, even if she never knew my name. She was my Ariel, and I know I am her Eric.
No matter what she says.

The rest of the trip went smoothly. I stayed behind a car or two when I could, and when they pulled in, to draw away suspicion, I drove right past the strip mall, taking my sweet time to order a coffee.
Honestly, it was a little shocking that they just drove right in. Don't people tell their kid's not to take candy from strangers? And yet, here they are driving right to my trap. What fools.
I contemplate going back to the parking lot to loiter around over a few sips of the coffee, but since I had booked them until nine, it would look rather sketchy. And would be incredibly boring.
Perhaps, I can find something that could assist me in case one of them struggles. The town was rather quiet at night, hardly anyone would be around to assist them, but if they struggled, or tried to call the cops, it would be game over for me. I packed a gag and tape, and some rope, but perhaps some pepper spray..
Little did I know what was going on at that very second.
Breaking news. It's just in, a new lead on the case of Jasmine Walters has just been discovered. Late last night, Miss Walters grandfather was trying to sleep when he heard a soft thump through his window. He got up and investigated, which led him to discovering a ransom note. For reasons they would not disclose, the police department believe that the note is the real deal.
The old man also described a shadowy figure from the corner of his eye, which he believes was wearing a hoodie. Due to the dry season, there were no footprints to go off of. The security camera's captured only an extended hand as it threw the package onto the porch.
Looking back, it seems that was the beginning of the end. Tell me, was it you... people who set up my bad luck?
