day 3

I woke up very early to the sound of Maria crying. I looked up at her and she was curled up in a ball shaking.

"Maria?" I said

She looked over at me.

"There's a monster under my bed" she said through her tears, still shaking.

I could see how scared she was so I said "Its ok, I wont let any monsters hurt you"

"I'm scared, daddy" she said

Her calling me that made me happy, I don't know why it just...did. so I sat up and patted beside me on the bed.

"If I put my feet down the monster will get me" she said as she curled back into a ball.

"Maria..." I said before getting up and walking over to her bed. I picked her up and carried her over to my bed. I placed her down and climbed back under the blanket. She cuddled into me and said "Arigato, Daddy"

Maria fell asleep again but I didn't. I was thinking about how much Yui would love Maria. She had always said that she wanted a daughter that was cute and smart.

"Daddy?" said Maria

"I'm sorry, did I wake you?" I said

I looked down, she was crying.

"what's wrong?" I asked

"I had a bad dream" she said

"Its ok, it was just a dream" I said. I wiped her tears away.

We got up and i introduced her to Shinomia because for some odd reason she could see Shinomia even when he was invisible to everyone else. while I was making the bed Maria went for a shower. Shinomia made her some new clothes to wear because her old ones were dirty and ripped. He made her a blue dress, a black cardigan, black ankle boots and a blue ribbon tied in a bow for her hair. She came out the bathroom and I told her that blue looked good on her. She thanked me and started walking towards me but she kept stumbling and tripping up.

"Are you feeling ok" I asked

"I'm fine, my eye sight is just a little foggy" she said

"maybe you need glasses" I said " Shino, could you make some glasses for Maria?"

"no sweat" he said

Shinomia handed the glasses to Maria and told her to put them on.

"Can you see any better" he asked

"yeah, so much better" she said with a smile growing across her face.

"They look good on you" Said Shino.

"Really" she said "what do you think Daddy?"

"they suit you" I said

Maria's smile grew even bigger. We packed up all of our stuff and got ready to leave. We walked out and locked the door. After leaving we went to a small café called Torikago. Maria pointed at the sign and said "Bird Cage".

I looked up at the sign and sure enough it said Bird cage but in Japanese, Then I remembered that the night before she had said "Arigato" which means thank you in Japanese.

"Is this where you want to eat" I asked.

"yes please" she said

So we went in and found a seat. We ordered our food and once again I asked a few questions.

"Maria?" I said "How do you Know Japanese?"

"When I escaped from the science lab, the first place I went was a library. My parents had taught me how to read while I was in the lab. I spent weeks reading and one day I found a series of books about learning Japanese. I was fascinated so I kept reading and practising until I was fluent in both English and Japanese" she said.

"That explains it" I said

"un" she said

"You also said something about you being able to make strange things happen" I said

"Could we maybe talk about that somewhere else" she said

"sure" I said

So we paid for our food and walked out into the street.

"em... daddy could I... maybe hold your.. hand?" Maria asked

"of course" I said

Maria's face lit up. She smiled and grabbed onto my hand. We walked for about 10 minutes before finally ducking into an ally way.

"When I was 3 years old I was playing in the gardens of the science lab, that I was held captive in, when a giant birdy flew out of a window and started flying towards me. I think it was going to lift me up into the sky but it got distracted and ended up only scratching my arm." she said as he rolled up her cardigan sleeve to show me the scar "Ever since then I have been able to read peoples minds, make things levitate, see un-natural beings such as Shinomia and talk to animals. You think I'm a freak now, don't you?" she asked

"Maria, I would never think that" I said

"huh" she said as she looked up at me.

"And I knew from the second I saved you from the car" I said

"wait" she said "do you have..?"

"yes, and so does your Mummy" I said

"I have a Mummy to?" she asked

"yes" I said back

"but, she is in serious danger" said Shinomia

"She is?" asked Maria

"yeah, but we are on a mission to save her and now your here to help to" I said

"right!" she said

"do you wanna see a picture of her" asked Shino

"Really?" she asked

"Yeah, look" said Shino.

He pulled out his god phone and showed Maria a picture of me and Yui from the first week of us knowing each other.

"She's so pretty" she said

"I know" I said

"so, Maria, Want to help save Mummy" I asked

"yes, yes, yes, yes, yes" she yelled

"well that settles it then, Maria is going to come along with us" I said

"right" said Shino.
