The guilt was overbearing for Dave. He just couldn't believe it happened. He thought he had been doing the right thing by letting Alisha go, despite the backlash he got from his mother, his crew, Ruth, and his daughter....everyone. Instead, he was looking out for himself, and as a result, put Alisha through an emotionally down-falling situation that some people never get over. He kept telling himself that she wasn't raped, that it was just an attempt, as a way to stifle the anger he had towards himself. While that was true, it was an attempt that had gone as far it could without being rape. Dave was so sorry, and he meant it when he told Alisha before. He wanted to say it again, but he let her sleep instead. As the drive home from Andres seemed to be taking longer than usual, his guilt was partially eased when it seemed as if Alisha knew what he was thinking. She awoke from her weak sleep to call him her hero, and to thank him again for saving her. Just as soon as she could get out those words, she drifted into another dazed sleep. Despite her safety, she was in bad shape. To be safe, Dave called his family doctor.

"Dammit. Dr. Smith's out of town," he exclaimed, based on what he heard before the call went to voicemail.

So, he called Dr. Fritz, his backup doc, and he picked up. After explaining the situation, the doctor agreed to meet up with them immediately, a perk of living in a small town.

The rest of the drive made Dave anxious. When they pulled into the ranch, Dr. Fritz was waiting outside the front door. He was an older gentleman, about 60, with wrinkles in his face that showed wisdom.

"Thanks for coming, Dr. Fritz, we're bringing her in now," Dave mentioned, as he picked her up and carried her.

James guided him in.

"Should I tell the guys to get back to work, boss?"

"No, I want them and you in the room with the doctor and I. They deserve to be there.

Dave went to put her in his bed, as her bed and room was filled with stuff.

James opened the sheets and Dave laid her down. She was a mess.

Dr. Fritz took over.

"Young lady? Young lady, can you wake up?"

"Her name's Alisha. She might respond better to her name," Jesse suggested.

"Ah. Okay, Alisha. I am a doctor. I want to check your vitals, okay, and make sure you aren't seriously hurt," he said as Alisha opened her eyes in a groggy fashion.

It was the first time the others could really take in what happened and not worry about their surroundings. All of the focus was on Alisha, and she wore the signs of her stress. She had a black left eye, a swollen left cheek, and a scratch on her right cheek. Dave's shirt that she wore was torn from him ripping it off himself. Her arms and wrists had bruises from the gang holding her down, as well as on her ankles and neck. Her pants were torn in multiple places, including between her legs, from the blade of her attacker.

"Boss, she's roughed up. I feel so bad for her," Jason said.

"Can we get some ice packs for her?" the doctor requested.

Dave eyed Jesse and Robert to go get some.

"Sweetie, can you see me? I'm Dr. Fritz."

Alisha nodded.
