It was only Kimberly who called. Thank goodness for Alisha. She didn't know how much more she could take of that bitch, Amanda.
"Hey, Kimberly. What's up?" Alisha answered after their initial greeting.
"Not too much....just curious if you're doing anything tomorrow."
"I have a little bit on my plate; laundry and house chores while I wait for the kids' new beds to be built. Then I need to go to the toy store to fill their rooms a little more."
"Would you mind some company?" Kimberly asked.
Alisha wasn't used to people wanting to hang out with her, but after shopping with Ruth, Dave's mom, and Kimberly already once, she welcomed the chance again.
"No, not at all. Is everything okay?"
"Yeah, yeah, everything's fine. I just didn't get to finish the shopping I needed to do for the cookout," Kimberly answered."Okay, great, then I can help you. I'd love the company, too."
"Awesome. I appreciate it. So, did you and Dave decide on what you're singing for the karaoke contest?"
"Umm, nope.""Oh. Well, the sooner, the better for you."
"I'm probably not going to do it," Alisha responded.
"What? You can't back out."
"I have no choice, Kimberly. If I get up there to sing, not only will I embarrass myself, but Dave as well.....and who knows, I could seriously hurt myself if I black out. I just freeze in those situations. I think he needs to let this one go."
"Sorry, Alisha. The Martin sibling rivalry doesn't allow quitters. Believe me, my husband doesn't want to do it either, but he will because he loves me."
"Are you trying to put me on a guilt trip?"
"No. I just know Dave wants to beat me at something."
"Well, you're married, so it's a little different for me," Alisha tried reasoning.
"Then I guess Dave will just have to get over it."
Alisha wanted to change the subject again....even though discussing the contest was important to make it clear she wasn't comfortable.
"What time are you coming over tomorrow?" she asked Kimberly.
"Actually, I was hoping to spend the night. Dylan is working the graveyard shift anyway, so I don't want to be lonely."
Alisha was open to it, and she figured Dave wouldn't mind.
"Yeah! We can do a sleep over."
"I thought you'd say that. Now, let me in."
There was a knock at the door. Seems Kimberly had already been on her way. Alisha let her in and helped her set her bags in the guest room.
"So guess who I had the pleasure of talking to not once, but three times earlier today," Alisha mentioned.
"Who?"
"Amanda."
Kimberly paused.
"Oh, my God. What did Dave do? How did he react? What happened?"
