The shopping spree hit a food break, and once again, Kimberly was beyond impressed with Alisha's dedication to making something the way she wanted it. With the back of her truck packed with home goods, Alisha decided they'd fill up at the diner.

"This sound good to you?"

"Heck yeah. I'm starving," Kimberly answered her.

They sat in Alisha's usual spot when Ruth walked by to greet them.

"Hello, ladies. How are you this afternoon?"

"We're great, Ruth. Yourself?" Alisha asked.

"Wonderful. So what are you to two up to without the guys?"

"Just did some shopping to tidy up the guest room for Dave's parents. They'll be back this afternoon with the kids."

"Oh, that sounds exciting," Ruth replied.

"I'm excited to see the kids, but I'm nervous about meeting Dave's father."

"He'll be fine, Alisha," Kimberly tried adding in quickly before Ruth commented.

"He's harmless, dear," the elderly hostess said.

"I can see that, but he wants to go horse riding with me for a few hours later....to get to know me."

Ruth shrugged. She gave the impression that Dave's dad wasn't as serious as he may seem.

"I just want him to like me."

"I'm not worried. He'll love you," Ruth told her.

Alisha was grateful for her uplifting words.

"Now what will it be today?" Ruth asked, ready to take their orders.

The drinks were the usual sweet tea, while Kimberly opted for the burger and Alisha chose the chef's salad. She needed a light lunch to ease her nerves.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, the guys finished loading 500 head of cattle.

"How'd we do, boss? Better than expected?" Jesse asked.

"Heck yeah. Way better. Maybe I'll give you guys a little bonus and Alisha gets a promise."

"What does that mean?" James asked.

"Don't worry, James. You'll find out soon enough."

"Well, since we're done, I was thinking we should help clean up that guest room that Alisha is working on. You know? To repay her for helping us pick the stalls this morning."

"Good idea, Jesse. Are you guys okay with that?" Dave asked.

They were on it as soon as they cleaned up, and it was perfect timing with the painters just finishing their work. Once they were done, Dave asked Dylan to go for a ride with him, and just before they set off, the girls arrived back.

"And where are you two going? You know your folks will be here in less than three hours," Alisha reminded Dave as he was exiting.

"We'll be back. If for some reason, we're not, you can ride Rustbucket. Let my dad ride Sky," he told her.
