"i'm scared of losing you, too," he says out of the blue, watching all of the cars honk and drive down the busy street as they walk towards a bakery. "i almost lost you once. i don't want to lose you again."
"you won't lose me," everett turns to him, pulling him away from the pedestrian traffic. "you won't lose me, okay? and i won't lose you, either."
"okay," aidan nods. "okay, we won't lose each other."
"promise me," aidan barely makes out the whisper that comes from everett with the bustling of others.
"i promise."
he shouldn't be making promises he can't keep.
