"Each night I put my head to my pillow, I try to tell myself I'm strong because I've gone one more day without you." ~ Unknown

"Where is my coffee?" shouted the man with thunderous voice and monstrous expression as he slammed the office door open. He had warned his assistant to prepare him a cup of coffee the first thing in the morning. Today, she failed to do so and his patience was tested.
"I'm sorry, sir. Seolhyun-shi can't make it today. She took an emergency leave due to personal problem. I'll go and make you a cup of coffee right now." Yugyeom quickly walked towards the pantry. His newly appointed boss is really a pain in the ass, he would simply throw his tantrum just to anyone in front of him despite their age.
Jeon Incorporation now was lead by Jeon Jungkook. His mother had given him the full responsibility to manage the company and she trusted no one but him. Jungkook quit his job as an architect without any hesitation as his purpose and goals in life was crashed down the day Jiwon left him.
He was merely breathing yet still living. He put his heart and soul into his work until late at night, occupying his time for the sake of his family business. Mrs. Jeon was slowly recovering from her depression and mental illness, one of the sole reasons for him to toss his dream away.
As he woke up from his deep sleep, he went straight to the bathroom to do his morning routine. The first image that he saw through the mirror was his puffy eyes and dark circles blocking his handsome features, his hair was disheveled into a huge mess, his shirt was unbutton from a few top holes and crumpled.
Unconsciously, he punched the mirror with his right fist out of anger as the glass shattered into few large pieces on the sink counter. Blood oozing from his knuckles but the aching was humorously unaffected. The hurt in his heart was million times more deep and painful than the cut on his hands.
He took a shower to clean the red liquids and freshen himself from all the distress. As soon as he stepped out from the shower, he packed his clothes into his luggage and get ready to leave the apartment which was once a paradise to him. He returned to the Jeon mansion.
He was hoping to be met with his mother's warm smile, telling him that everything would be fine. But he was served with his mother's threatening voice along with her wicked plan. "Now that Kim Jiwon has left, there's one thing left for you to do." Mrs. Jeon was talking through the phone. "Kill my husband together with his mistress, destroy them and you will soon get the reward. But remember, -" her words were cut off by the sudden interruption.
"Listen, you bastard! Don't you dare to touch any of them or else I'll report you to the police and disclose all of your dirty jobs this past years. You better get lost before you loss everything and rot in the jail. Don't you ever look for my mom ever again! Understand!" Jungkook quickly disconnected the call. He knew the man working for his mother all this while.
"Jeon Jungkook! What do you think you are doing? Give me back my phone!" Mrs. Jeon was scared that her secrets was finally revealed by her beloved son. She was even more afraid that Jungkook will leave her behind as how his father left them for another woman.
"I am doing the right thing, mom! What do you think you are doing?! Why are you planning on destroying everyone's life?! Do you think it is fine to hurt every soul who hurts you?! Will it satisfy your greed, mom?! And now, you are simply attacking she who knows nothing about her past?!" Jungkook tried to suppress his anger but, nothing could stop him.
"Please, mom. I'm begging you to please stop. Please, return back to the way you are, the kind-hearted woman with a beautiful soul. Being evil consuming hatred is just not you. I couldn't even recognize you anymore! You are not who you are used to be!" Jungkook tried to beg his mother.
"Even if he hurts you, cheats on you and breaks your heart, it is not right to seek revenge on others. I need you the most mom, right now. I need the angelic mother to comfort me in my hardest time not the devilish woman who loves making people suffer. I need your warmth, I need your hug and I need your love so badly. Please, mom," tears breaking down his cheek like a waterfall. He was so helpless and fragile at the moment. Imagine the person you love and trust the most left you behind without a heart, without words, without you knowing the reasons and without having a proper closure.
"Jungkook...don't cry, honey. I...I felt so lost, Jungkook. I really love your father with all my heart. I trust him so much and never doubt him all this while. I gave him everything I have, I gave him all the happiness I had ever received, I showered him with lots of love, I gave him the best son that everyone had ever wanted. But, look what he had done behind my back! Who could ever accept that, honey? Please, please understand me. Forgive mom, Jungkook. Don't leave me too," she caressed his cheek wiping his unstoppable tears which ruined his good-looking face.
Jungkook embraced his mother, as tight as he could, never ever thinking of abandoning her like his father. He cried on her petite shoulder, feeling guilty for not paying attention on what his mother had been through, all he had ever care was his own feelings and remorse. "Never, mom. I will never leave you alone. Never in my wildest dream. From now on, I will always be by your side, just you and me, we got each other's back, okay mom."
"Honey, I'm sorry...but, I still can't simply accept Jiwon in our life, she reminds me of the pain, I felt deceived and betrayed, she made me lose my patience, her mother destroyed our once happy family, and I can't bring myself at the sight of her next to you, as if she was mocking me." Mrs. Jeon tried to make his son understand her reasoning, after all it was Jiwon's blood related mother who took her husband.
Jungkook knew it already, why his mother despises Jiwon, he knew why Jiwon's family hated her. Jiwon was a daughter from another mother. His father's mistress. It was complicated but the truth. Jiwon was the punching bag for everyone to let go of their own anger and loathing. She was the victim. But still, that doesn't mean it was okay for her to leave him alone. He hates her yet.
"It is okay if you don't like her, mom. I left her already. You won't hear or see her any longer. She won't return, I'm sure of it. I just need you more than anything now. Let's be happy the way we were before, the both of us. Please, mom. Come back to me, I'll give you all the happiness that we both yearned for." His tears rushed out his eyes, displaying the sadness, loneliness and emptiness surrounding his injured heart. But what he heard later on, shattered his heart into pieces.
Mrs. Jeon nodded and hugged her precious son, thankful that he was being understanding of her situation. "Jiwon-shi...she left you with the money I offered her, honey. She didn't deserve you. As I warned you before, she was just after your money. She never loved you. I'm sorry I have to tell you this, son. I don't want you to wait for someone who won't love you for who you are."
"I know, mom. She didn't love me."
That was when he agreed to take control of their family business replacing his mother. Mrs. Jeon on the other side was getting full treatment by a doctor suggesting for a few specific therapies. He wanted to have more power to prove Jiwon that, her abandoning him ruthlessly was the best decision ever. Little did he know, he was killing himself slowly.
"Fire her! Get me a new secretary. And I want it to be done by tomorrow!" with that simple and strict command, the whole office was in chaos. Everyone helping each other finding for a replacement being afraid that if they fail, they will bear the risk of getting fired too.
