I reached my house and Seth left. I tried to open the door but then I realised that it was locked. I snuck round the back and fished in my pocket for the spare key. Now that I was alone everything seemed freaky. I could hear noises and see shadows moving in the background. I began to get frantic, my fingers fumbling around in my pocket. I managed to get the key out but then dropped it. It went crashing to the floor and when I picked it up and lifted up my head my heart skipped a beat.
My mum was standing there staring at me. Once she knew I'd seen her she swung open the door. Raging she pulled me inside, slammed the door and spoke to me. "What do you think you're doing coming in at this time of the in the morning!" the morning? How long have I been out? I turned round so I could see our kitchen clock. 3:50. I had to quickly think of an excuse. I couldn't tell her the truth because even if she did believe me there was no way of proving it and Seth would probably eat me!
"Well? I'm waiting for an answer."
"I was on a paper round?"
"At four o'clock in the morning, in the summer holidays?"
"Yeh?"
"Well, I'll get to the bottom of this another day but you're grounded for a week! No going out seeing friends. No laptop and you have to be in your room by 8:00!"
"But that's so unfair! You're treating me like a two year old. And I need my laptop to do homework!"
"You will still have four weeks left and I'm treating you like a two year old because you're acting like a two year old."
I was going to say that if was acting like a two year old then I should just have a tantrum on the floor, but then thought better of it. I plodded upstairs and slipped on some PJ's. I didn't bother with brushing my hair or cleaning my teeth because when I got in my room I realised how tired I was. I slumped into my bed and drifted off into a deep sleep.
When I woke up and looked at my clock it was 8:28. "Ugh" I groaned as I pulled my blanket over my head and tried to get back to sleep. Unfortunately that wasn't possible because my mum came storming into my room and had a go at me. "Who is that boy that just came to our front door!" she demanded. I sighed. That depends on who she means Tristan or Seth. I'm guessing Tristan. She carried on "Does the name Tristan ring any bells!?" I groaned. What did he want!
"Look mum. I swear that I don't know any one called Tristan." I just stared at her and she stared back. Then she broke the stare of doom. "I believe you but that's what you get for creeping around at night. Stalkers..." and with that she walked out my room and left me lying there. I stayed completely still for about ten minutes to check that she wasn't coming back in. Then I leapt out of bed and opened my window. I stared outside but couldn't see Tristan anywhere. I wonder what was so important for him to be knocking at half eight in the morning. Whatever it was I wouldn't be able to see him anyway so it didn't matter.
Just then I heard mum coming back upstairs. Quickly I darted into bed and yanked the cover over my head. However she didn't come all the way up and just called at me from down below. "Me and your father are going shopping. I'm locking you in, ok. We'll probably be back around 11. Make yourself breakfast and we'll bring back lunch." I yawned and then replied "ok".
I'm not sure where they're going at half eight because none of the shops will be open quite yet. Either way it didn't matter where they were going because I wasn't going anywhere anyway. I put on some jeans and a plain t-shirt and slumped downstairs. Had breakfast brushed hair, the usual stuff. Then I turned on the TV and began flicking through the channels. But then I noticed something really weird. One our TV we've got about 100 channels. That sounds like a lot but there's still nothing to watch. However I noticed that there were only 11 when I began flicking through. I got to 11 and then it went back to one again. I went through them all again but this time something creeped me out even more. Channels one and two were normal BBC 1 and 2. All the others were fine as well except 11.
The picture was blank besides two white dots in the middle. When they began to get bigger I realised what they were. I grabbed the remote and fumbled at the buttons to change the channel, but then I hit one of the buttons so hard that the batteries fell out and rolled under the sofa. I stepped towards the TV to turn it off manually but it was too late because the blood demon was beginning to ooze out of the screen.
I backed off and stumbled as I nearly tripped over the sofa. I sprinted towards the front door but when I tried to open it I remembered that mum had locked it. Suddenly I heard a banging on the window. Usually I would be scared as hell if someone was knocking on the window when I was alone, but I was in trouble.
I ran into the front room and locked the door behind me. When I looked up out of the window I could see Seth. I sighed with relief. This was really good of him to be coming out in the day because if he's out in the sun for too long he could burn to a crisp, literally! He was shouting at me through the glass but it came out in a whisper "let me in". Unfortunately I couldn't let him in because I couldn't open the door. So I'm stuck in here about to be eaten and he's stuck outside about to be incinerated!
