“Why do you always think that we are in trouble? Your mom isn’t that bad.” Wilmer laughed at Demi’s reaction. Initially, he had hoped that Demi’s mother was really as bad as Demi imagined her, but after talking on the phone with her, his opinion changed completely. She seemed sweet.
“Oh, believe me, you don’t know her.” She shrugged and continued to drink her coffee. Wilmer gave her a look and drank his coffee too.
For a few moments they were sitting in silence but then Demi’s phone rang. She almost jumped off the chair and rushed to the living room to answer the phone. She grabbed her phone from the couch and sighed as she saw the ID. Joe.
“Hi.” She rolled her eyes answering the phone. She perfectly knew why he was calling.
“Hey, Demi, where are you?” Joe sounded worried. Demi almost started laughing at his voice. She once again convinced how unique actor he was. She took a deep breath, trying to calm the anger inside, as the memories of him kissing the girl came back to her head.
She didn’t even noticed how Wilmer had entered the room. He looked at her and finally their eyes met. He saw tears in her eyes at it were all he needed to realize who was calling. He slowly came closer to her and took a phone from her hands.
“Leave her alone. She’s with me now.” Wilmer said into the phone and hang up. Then he looked at Demi, whose eyes were wide. He did what she wasn’t able to do for a very long time. He practically freed her.
“What have you done?” Demi asked, shaking her head in disbelief. How could he? She didn’t want to break up with him. She loved him.
“It’s for your own good.” He tried to hug her but Demi shook her head again. The tears started running down her cheeks as she stared at Wilmer. Suddenly she turned around, grabbed her phone and rushed out of the room.
Wilmer stood there, paralyzed. He had no idea why she reacted like that. Of course, she loved Joe, but he was using her and it’s probably the best thing someone had ever done in her life. She needed time to think, and then she will understand. Or maybe not…
Wilmer frowned when Demi shut the door. Sighing, he went back to the kitchen to clean the cups. It seemed like he wasn’t going to meet Demi’s mom that day.

Demi ran into the house and shut the door behind herself. She didn’t bother to say ‘hi’ to her family, she just ran up the stairs to her room and, of course, shut the door too. Her mind was in confusion. How could Wilmer say that to Joe? A few months ago, Joe said that he would never forgive if she cheat on him, and now Wilmer told him that they are together. He ruined everything.
She pulled out the phone from the pocket and dialed Joe’s name. She could explain and everything could be the same. They could be together, like before. She loved him that much.
“What?” Joe answered after a few beeps.
