Wilmer sat down on the bed and turned on the TV. Not paying attention to the TV, he continued chatting with the new girl, the new girl who he really liked, but suddenly his attention was drawn to Demi’s name.

Demi Lovato is in rehab”

Wilmer’s eyes immediately widened at the new. What had happened to her? Since that day, when they had an argument, a month had passed, and he hadn’t talked to her. He didn’t know anything about her but he was sure she was okay. After all, it was Demi. She knew how to deal with everything.

It was some kind of shock to him.

He grabbed his phone but this time not for chatting. He found Dianna’s number, and although he was sure she was really mad at him, he pressed the call button. It didn’t matter that he and Demi had fallen out, he cared about her too much.

“Hello?” A woman’s voice was heard in the phone. Wilmer took a deep breath, nervously.

“Hi. It’s Wilmer.” He started, “I heard about Demi… What happened? Is she okay?” He asked.  For a few seconds he got no answer but then after a deep breath, he heard Dianna’s voice again.

“Demi… Demi isn’t okay. It’s a long story to tell. But the biggest part you know, she had problems, and it’s time to solve them.” She replied, sighing. “She is in Timberline knolls right now.”

“Can… Can I see her?” Wilmer asked, doubting. One part of him thought that seeing him can make Demi feel worse, but other part just wanted to hug her. After all, they were such a good friends and she was having a really hard time.

“Yes, probably. I will send you meeting hours.” Dianna said, making Wilmer smile. Looked like after everything what happened, she wasn’t bad at him anymore. Well, at least one good new.

“Thank you so much. Goodbye.” Wilmer said and hung up. He stared at his phone waiting for message with hours. He couldn’t wait to see her. That moment, he realized how much he missed Demi and how stupid he was that day. He had to stay and calm her down. She was her friend, and a real friend would do that. For the first time in his life, he wanted to turn back the time and change his action.

-

Wilmer entered the building and looked around. There were no people, the whole corridor was empty. He hadn’t seen from where, a young woman walked into the corridor. She walked to him and after talking with her, he was lead to the meeting room.

He sat down on the couch and looked around. Everything felt really strange, deep down he couldn’t believe Demi was really there. He remembered her smile, her shiny eyes. He remembered how brave she was and how good she stayed while Joe called her awful names. It was only a few things that had happened to her since she met him. He was afraid to think about what she had experienced before meeting him…

He was  deep in thoughts, when the door opened widely and she ran in. Without saying any single word, she rushed into Wilmer’s arms, and hugged him tightly. He hugged her back, in surprise. He thought she will be cold and won’t want to talk to him. But it wasn’t like that: all she wanted to do was see and hug him. They both missed each other so much.

“Hey” He whispered into her hair as Demi didn’t pull away from his embrace for a few minutes. He heard how she took a few deep breaths and slowly departed from him. She quickly wiped her teary cheeks and looked up to his face with a small smile.

“Hi.” She whispered back, and hugged him again. “Thank you for being here for me.” She whispered again, as Wilmer started stroking her back up and down. He smiled, although she couldn’t see it, and kissed on top of her head.

“I’m your best friend, I have to be with you through difficult time… Or maybe no” He added, making Demi pull away from him with wide eyes. How could he believe that he wasn’t her friend anymore?

“It was a stupid argument. I did stupid things, I thought... No matter, what I thought, I just… I’m sorry, okay? I didn’t want to lose you. I-“ She wanted to continue but Wilmer stopped her, putting his finger on her lips.

“It’s okay, baby, you don’t have to worry about it. We’re alright, okay?” He asked and Demi nodded, smiling. “Good. Now tell me what happened.” Wilmer asked with a smile on his face. They sat down on the couch, and Demi started telling him about everything, since the day when she thought her life was ruined.

For a first time, she opened up to someone. For the first time she was sure that she can trust someone completely.

-

Wilmer heard how the doorbell rang but he didn’t bother to open. He continued to lay in the bed and stare at the ceiling but the bell rang again. Groaning, he got up, quickly dressed and walked down the stairs to open the door.

“What the fuck?” He shouted in surprise as he saw Demi standing outside with a huge grin on her face. He immediately wrapped his hands around her, picking her up and spinning her around. Demi couldn’t help but started giggling like crazy, making Wilmer smile even wider. Everything was so unexpected. He put her down on the ground and hugged her tightly.

“Someone is happy to see me.” She giggled as Wilmer held her tightly in his arms for a good two minutes. He just pressed her tighter to his body and sighed.

“Of course I am. Oh my God, I have seen you three days ago, and you didn’t say anything about leaving.” He said, pulling away.  He grabbed her hand, and almost dragged her inside the house, making Demi smile again. He looked so excited.

“I wanted to surprise you, this is why I didn’t say I was leaving.” She grinned as they sat down on the couch in the living room. Suddenly she moved closer to him and hugged him as tightly as she could, again. “I didn’t expect that you would be so happy to see me.” She said, still hugging him.

“Of course, I’m very happy because you’re with me again. But how are you feeling? When I saw you last time, you weren’t feeling really good…” Suddenly he became serious. The smile disappeared from his face as he stared at her. Her healthy was a very important thing, and he promised himself that he will make sure she’s okay.

“I’m feeling better when I’m with you.” She smiled widely. Wilmer smiled back at her, but then he felt a strange feeling. These words which she said made him feel something what he hadn’t felt in a really long time, probably since elementary school.

He looked at Demi, who was still smiling that perfect smile. He didn’t realized how he leaned closer and their lips were just inches away. What was happening?
