It’s been a few months since Demi and Wilmer were back together like friends. Everything went incredibly well, perhaps too well, but they were too busy to see that. Grievances they pushed away and started everything with a clear page. And at that point, they were both very happy.
“You know,” Demi started, turning to Wilmer, who was laying on the other couch. He turned his attention to her and raised an eyebrow. “I think I have to buy an apartment.” She stated sitting up. Wilmer sat up too, and looked at her confused.
“I thought you liked living with your parents.” He said, looking at Demi.
“Of course I like it, but look at me. I’m nearly 21 year old, god, I’m old and I’m living with my parents. That’s not okay.” She stated, shaking her head. “I really need to buy an apartment.”
“At the moment you behave like a little kid who wants a candy and will get it no matter what.” Wilmer didn’t agree, “You need to think about it. And if you don’t want to live with your parents, you can live with me. After all, I’m single, I live here alone and if I remember correctly, you liked my house.”
“I would love to live with you, in fact I’m almost doing it because part of my things is in here, but I would want to have my own place,” She thought out loud, “Wait, we could buy an apartment together.” Suddenly she jumped from the couch, making Wilmer laugh. She was so weird and crazy sometimes.
“You’re crazy.” Wilmer shook his head, “We’re having arguments almost every single day and you want to buy an apartment together? I don’t think it’s a good idea.” He didn’t agree again.
“Oh, come on. We could be roommates” She sounded so excitedly.
“Why don’t you want to live alone or with me at my place?” He asked, raising an eyebrow. All the excitement disappeared from Demi’s face as she looked down at her hands, already playing with her fingers. She sighed and looked up to meet Wilmer’s eyes.
“Because… Because I’m afraid that I may break down and I would be alone and I can do make something stupid and I-“ Before Demi could finish her sentence, Wilmer stood up and walked closer to her, wrapping his hand around Demi’s shoulders.
“Okay, I understand.” He nodded his head, “I will be with you in every step, if you want me to.” He said seriously, stroking her back up and down, trying to comfort her.
“You’re the best friend, you know?” She whispered and quickly wiped a few tears away which managed to leave her eyes. She gave Wilmer a small smile and wrapped her hands around his neck, pulling him closer to a hug.
“I know.” He nodded his head, smirking, “I’m always the best. You should be really happy you can call me your friend.” He joked, making Demi giggle too. He always managed to make her smile.
“So we are buying apartment,” The excitement had returned to her voice. Wilmer just sighed and nodded his head although inside he was really excited too because a life with Demi could never be boring.
Before he could react, Demi brought a computer and was already searching for an apartment. Wilmer moved closer to her, looking at the laptop screen too. Suddenly Demi turned to him with a serious expression on her face.
“But you won’t bring any bitch there,” She stated, making Wilmer laugh. She narrowed her eyes at him but it didn’t stop him from laughing. “I’m serious, Wilmer. I don’t want any bitch in our apartment. If you want to spend time with them, bring them to the house.” She added as Wilmer continued to laugh.
“Okay, okay,” He finally replied, “The same condition to you. No guys in the apartment.”
“This is wrong. If I would bring a guy, it wouldn’t be a one night stand, you know. My life is a little different than yours” She announced, looking at the laptop screen. Wilmer just groaned and looked at the screen too. She was right but it wasn’t going to stop him. It was his life after all.
“You are traveling a lot,” Wilmer cut off the silence, “I will bring some bitches then.” He shrugged, making Demi laugh.
“Wilmer, I’m kidding.” She giggled and turned to face him. “You can do whatever you want. Plus, because I spend so much time with you, I’m following through your feet.” She added and blushed a bit. It was strange to announce what she was having that type of relationship.
“You mean you had one night stand?” He asked, raising an eyebrow and laughing at the same time.
“No… I’m having a relationship with someone and there’s just sex,” She said and rolled her eyes at Wilmer’s wide eyes. Although she had had a crazy past, Wilmer would have never thought that Demi could have a relationship like that. She always took things like that seriously.
“Who’s he?” Wilmer asked, raising an eyebrow. He was really curious about he was that guy.
“I’m not going to tell you,” Demi shook her head, turning her attention back to the computer screen, “Just drop it, Wilmer. I know you wish it was you, but nope. I found someone better,” She bit her lip and scrolled down the page ignoring Wilmer’s reaction.
Suddenly Demi’s phone started ringing and she immediately picked up. Wilmer continued to scroll down until he felt how Demi’s body started to shake. He turned to face her and what he saw frightened him: Demi’s eyes were full of tears and her whole body was trembling uncontrollably.
“Demi?” Wilmer asked confused as the phone dropped from Demi’s hands. “Demetria, what’s going on?” He asked again, pushing the laptop away. The tears, which were in Demi’s eyes, now were running down her cheeks as she continued to shake.
“My father” She whispered and closed her eyes tightly. Wilmer immediately hugged her as tight as he could. Sobs filled the room and Wilmer couldn’t help but hug her tighter if it was even possible. He could feel how his heart was breaking too…

“Thank you.” Demi whispered, walking into the bedroom, where Wilmer was already laying in the bed. After a few hours of crying, she had asked him to leave her alone, and no matter how much he wanted to stay, he agreed.
Wilmer turned to her and gave her a small small smile. “Demi, that’s what the friends do.” He shrugged and sat up in the bed, looking at Demi, who was wearing his t-shirt as pajamas. She wasn’t crying anymore but she was still pale from all that crying.
“You have no idea what it means to me. You were with me through the darkest moments… I could never thank you enough…” She sat on the edge of the bed and wiped away a few tears, which left her eyes. She smiled a little, looking at Wilmer, although that smile was obviously fake.
“You don’t want to sleep alone?” He asked and Demi shook her head. She felt so unsafe being alone at the moments like that. She was scared of what may she do to herself… “Come here,” Wilmer lifted the covers, moving to the side.
Demi gave him another fake smile and climbed into the bed. She turned off the lights and moved closer to Wilmer. He wrapped his hand around her shoulder, pulling her closer. She rested her head on his naked chest and closed her eyes tightly as the tears filled her eyes again.
All her life she had survived alone but finally she find a friend, a friend, who will never leave her, a friend, who was always there for her, a friend, who was able to change her life.
A friend, who meant everything.
