Demi woke up, feeling someone’s hand on her. Wait, who was sleeping with her? She almost jumped out of the bed, when she realized it was Wilmer. The memories of yesterday slowly came back to her mind. That asshole, who was laying in her bed right now, was the reason why Joe had broken up with her. And small part of her hated him.

Slowly, she moved closer to him and grinned. He looked so peaceful. But it didn’t change her mind; she slowly raised her hand and slapped him. Hard.

His eyes immediately opened widely as his hand unconsciously moved to his cheek. At first he didn’t understand where he was but then he turned his head to one side and saw Demi, who was covering her mouth with her hands and giggling. He sat up and grabbed her by her hands. Throwing her on the bed, he started tickling her sides, making her giggle like crazy. She always was ticklish, and he knew that. For a few moments she regretted that she had told about that.

“Stop.” Demi managed to say between giggles.

“No.” Wilmer shook his head and continued to tickle her.

“Wilmer” Demi was laughing so hard, she couldn’t breathe properly. Wilmer thought it was enough of tickling her, so he stopped and sat on the bed laughing too. Demi sat up and hit his chest playfully.

“Why did you slap me?” Wilmer asked, raising an eyebrow at her. Demi bit her lower lip and looked at her hands. Why did she slap him? Well, she wasn’t sure why she did it. For a moment she hated him because of what had happened with Joe, so probably it was a reason.

“Because you broke up with my boyfriend.” She finally answered and became serious. The sadness returned to her, hiding all good emotions that Wilmer gave to her. Deep down, she knew he was right. She wanted to break up with Joe for a long time, but she wasn’t ready. She wasn’t strong enough for that.

“It’s for the best.” Wilmer put his hand on her chin, picking it up, making their eyes meet. “And if you want to talk about your fucked-up love things, I’m always with you.”  He said seriously. He really meant it. These words brought tears to Demi’s eyes, but she blinked them away and gave him a smile.

“Thanks.” She gave him a quick hug. “Oh, and my mom really likes you. She let you sleep with me, and she didn’t kill you because I slept in your house. I guess it’s a good sign.” She added, pulling away.

“Oh, Demi, everyone likes me.” Wilmer joked, making Demi giggle.

He was the only person who made her feel alive after a long time. That feeling was amazing.

Wilmer and Demi walked into a clothing store talking. Demi immediately rushed to the dresses, leaving Wilmer behind her. He sighed and followed her, not complaining. Her 18 birthday was close and she wanted to buy a nice dress. She asked all her ‘friends’ to go with her and help her choose a dress, but everyone was too busy with their own affairs, so Demi called Wilmer. And, to her surprise, he agreed.

“What do you think about this?” Demi asked, showing Wilmer a black short dress.

“Looks good.” Wilmer said, not really paying attention to Demi. His eyes were locked on a beautiful young seller.

“Wilmer, come back to Earth.” Demi waved a hand in front of his face, making him look at her. “She will never look at you.” She joked, searching for another dress. She found another attractive dress and took it to try on. Wilmer was walking behind her, but his eyes followed the beautiful seller.

“Oh, really? I will get her number.” Wilmer said as Demi stopped walking at turned to him.

“If you get her number, I will pay for your lunch. If you don’t get her number, you will pay for my dress.” She suggested, grinning. She was sure she will win the bet.

“Deal.” Wilmer agreed and followed Demi, who once again was walking to changing cab.

After a few minutes of searching, they found three more dresses, which looking nice and Demi liked them.

Demi went into the changing booth, try on dresses, and Wilmer sat on the armchair and waited.  After several minutes Demi decided to buy black dress, which hugged all her curves in all right places.  As soon as she walked out, she gasped in surprise. Wilmer was talking with that girl, he was flirting, to be correct. She couldn’t help but giggled because she obviously lost their bet. But how did he manage to seduce the girl so quickly? She walked to them and coughed, making Wilmer immediately look to her.

“I have to go now. Call you.” Wilmer excused himself and stood up. The he gave a hug to the girl and walked to Demi. “You pay for our lunch.” He stated, wrapping a hand around her shoulder.

“You’re womanizer.” Demi rolled her eyes as they walked to the payment cash.

Once they had paid, they walked to the first cafeteria.  Although both weren’t really hungry, Demi lost the bet and had to pay for their lunch, so both ordered ice cream and coffee.

“Will you come to my birthday party?” Suddenly Demi asked, getting Wilmer’s attention.

“I think I’m too old to go to your party. You know, princess stuff isn’t to me.” He joked, making Demi roll her eyes at him. He laughed at her reaction and continued, “Plus I am a womanizer, all your friends will be with me as if the party was mine.” Wilmer stated, grinning. Demi couldn’t help but rolled her eyes at him again. Sometimes he could be a little bit of an asshole.  Sometimes – most of the time.

“I’m serious.” She crossed her hands over her chest, “Will you come?” She repeated her question, hoping. At the moment, he was her best friend. The only friend, who could talk to her all night long or go shopping with her, or do stupid things, or just be with her when she didn’t feel good. And deep down, she really wanted to see him there.

“Of course, I will.” He said seriously and gave her a smile. “I couldn’t miss my bestie’s birthday.” He added, making Demi grin. They really were best friends. With each passing day Demi understood it again and again, and she really loved when he called her ‘bestie’.

“Thank you.” Demi thanked. “I will be really sad if you don’t come.”

“You know I hate to see you sad.” Wilmer said, “I want you to be happy and smile all the time. But I will have a huge problem right now.” He stated.

“What’s the problem?” She asked, not understanding.

“I need to buy you a present.” He grinned, “And since you have everything, it’s going to be really difficult.”

“You know, the best present for me is your presence.” Demi said and looked up at him with a smile.

Friendship with Wilmer made her realize that a girl and a boy can really be best friends. Just friends and nothing more.  And honestly, she quite  liked such a relationship.
