“Demi, wait” Wilmer shouted but Demi kept walking to the groceries.  She felt so confused and sad at the same time. This shouldn’t be happening.  It was wrong. For the first time she found someone, who was there for her no matter what, and she was going to push him away. “Demetria” Wilmer finally reached Demi’s hand and made her turn to him.

She gave him a fake smile and turned around, walking away. She quickly hided between people as tears started to run down her cheeks. She felt in love with him. And it wasn’t just a childish joke. It was the true love.

“Demi, what’s wrong?” Wilmer asked as they entered the house again. All the time in the shop, Demi didn’t say any single word and it made Wilmer really worried. No matter how many times he tried to approach her, she just pretended not to hear him.

“Nothing, Wilmer.” She finally spoke, not looking at him. She quickly rushed to the kitchen and filled up a glass with water, trying to divert Wilmer’s attention.

“Demi, stop” Wilmer grabbed the glass from her hands and put in on the cupboard angrily. Demi jumped in fear, she had never seen him like this. Oh, she saw him like that one time. That one time they kind of ended their friendship.

She finally looked up at him with wide eyes. She thought for a moment and opened her mouth to oppose but closed it without saying anything. She couldn’t say she felt something more, could she?

“Demi, or you say what’s going on by yourself, or I will make you” He said, making Demi close her eyes tightly.

“I-I…” I started as tears filled her tears again, “Wilmer, I think we need to quit our friendship. I don’t know for how long, I just… I need some time…” She quickly wiped the tears away from her cheeks and looked at him.

“What? Why?” He asked confused. Everything was so good between them, and he had no idea why she wanted to be away.

“I… Wilmer, look…” She stopped and looked up at him again, “I don’t want to ruin our friendship.” She said and quickly walked away. She climbed up the stairs and rushed to the bedroom.

Wilmer sighed and followed her. When he entered the bedroom, Demi was already throwing her clothes from his closet on the floor. He gasped and rushed to her.

“Demi, baby, what’s wrong?” He wrapped his hands tightly around her and no matter how hard Demi tried to push him away, he was stronger. She finally gave up and let everything out. Wilmer held her tightly in his embrace, stroking her back up and down, calming her down.

After a few minutes, she calmed down. She finally pulled away from him, looking at him with her teary, puffy eyes. Wilmer cupped her face in his hands and wiped the tears from her cheeks with his thumbs, making Demi close her eyes at his touch.

“What’s going on?” He wrapped his hands around her waist tightly, “Please, help me understand.” He asked, making Demi sigh.  She slowly walked to the bed and sat down. Putting her head in her hands, she sighed again. Wilmer walked to bed and sat beside her, wrapping his hand around her, trying to comfort her.

“I… I fell in love with you.” She whispered and closed her eyes tightly, waiting for the answer. She was sure that he will freak out. He always told her that he isn’t interesting in love thing, and there she was: his best friend, who felt in love with him.

Wilmer tensed as he understood her words. She was in love with him. He stood up and started walking back and forth, back and forth. Suddenly he kneeled in front of her, putting his hands on her cheeks, and made her look at him.

“This is so wrong.” He stated, looking straight into Demi’s eyes. She nodded her head and took a few deep breaths, not wanting to break down again. “Demi, I… You know I am not interested in this entire thing. I don’t want to hurt you and if we try, I will. I-“ He wanted to continue but Demi leaned closer to his face and shut him up with a kiss.

At first Wilmer didn’t kiss her back but after a few moments, he grabbed her head and kissed her back with so much passion. He stood up and pushed her on the bed, not breaking the kiss. She wrapped her hands around his neck, pulling him even closer.

“No” Suddenly Wilmer pulled away. They both were panting because that kiss took their breaths away. He sat beside her, while Demi didn’t move. She just felt so confused. Somehow she thought that he felt the same. He loved her too but he didn’t want to admit it.

“I should go…” She said, sitting up. Without making an eye contact with Wilmer, she walked to the closet and collected her clothes. When she turned back to him, he was staring at her with wide eyes.

“Demi, I can’t just let you go.” He shook his head. He couldn’t believe that he lost his best friend. It seemed unbelievable.

“I need some time.” She stated. “Let’s meet in 2012. I don’t know when, but… I just need to be away from you, okay? My feelings will disappear, and we will be able to be friends again.” She walked to him and hugged him tightly. “I don’t want to lose you, that’s why I need some time.”

“Okay.” He sighed. “I.. I’m sorry.” He added, pressing her tightly to his chest.

“No, it’s not your fault.” She shook her head, pulling away, “It’s just… I’m stupid, that’s my fault. But I swear, I will deal with it, so we can be friends again.”  She smiled and gave a quick kiss on the lips. She just wanted to remember how his lips taste. But all this kissing thing made everything even harder.

“Can we at least eat together one last time?” He suggested, making Demi grin.

“Of course.”  She gave Wilmer a huge smile. He stood up and grabbing her hand, walked her to the kitchen. It was their last evening together.

Later that evening, he brought her home and gave her a sweet kiss one last time before she jumped out of the car and rushed home. Just then he realized how much she meant to him and that he felt the same.  He loved her too, but he was too afraid to admit it.

And right now, he had to learn to live without her.
