The Sun had risen high in the sky, but Demi still couldn’t open her eyes. The house was quiet, and if not that sun rays, which shone directly into her eyes, she would sleep. Demi turned to the other side but it didn’t help. She groaned and opened her eyes.
As soon as she opened her eyes, she saw the man in front of herself. Her eyes widened as she moved away a bit, staring at the person. Then she realized; it was Wilmer. Yesterday they had been drinking and talking about anything and everything. Then she probably had fallen asleep and Wilmer did the same.
Demi sat up and looked around the room. It was the same living room, where she was yesterday, she was sitting on the same couch and on the table was half-empty bottle. They probably drank too much. She turned back to Wilmer. His mouth was opened and he looked like a small child. It looked really funny and Demi couldn’t help but giggle.
Her quiet giggle woke Wilmer up, and no matter how unwillingly, he also opened his eyes. In front of him was Demi and he started laughing as well. Her hair was tousled and cheeks black, from the mascara, because she was crying a lot during their evening. She looked like a ghost.
After a few minutes their laugh disappeared and they both stared at each other. Demi turned away, stood up from the couch and stretched. She let a sigh escape her lips as the pain reached her head. Maybe she had drank too much yesterday.
“Maybe you want a coffee?” Demi asked, looking at Wilmer. He sat up in the couch and rubbed his eyes. He couldn’t remember how they fell asleep as well. He had no idea what had happened, all he remembered was Demi’s laugh. He was pretty sure she was laughing all the time. Maybe laughing she was trying to forget the pain which she felt deep in her heart?
“This is my apartment; I think I should do a coffee.” Wilmer came back to reality and answered Demi’s question. She rolled her eyes at him, making a cute pout.
“I fell asleep in your home, on your couch, drunk. I somehow have to redeem my guilt.” She joked, making Wilmer laugh. He nodded his head and Demi turned around. She wasn’t even sure where the kitchen was, but, surprisingly, she walked straight there.
She poured the water into the kettle, which was placed on the cabinet, and turned it on. After a long time of searching, she finally found two cups. When she turned around to put the cups on the table, Wilmer stood there with a smile on his face. For a long time, no girl had visited his kitchen.
“How quickly you found everything.” Wilmer joked, sitting on the chair. Demi gave him a smile and leaned against the cabinet with her hands crossed over her chest. “Why are you still here?” Suddenly Wilmer broke their silence, making Demi look at him. At first she shrugged but then she started to think why she was really there.
“Since we are friends, I guess it’s okay, if I spend time with my friend.” The kettle started to sizzle and Demi turned around to turn it off. Then she poured the water into the cups and sat beside Wilmer. He was still looking at her with a smile. “We’re still friends, right?” She made sure, starting to doubt. They hadn’t talked for a few weeks, so maybe their friendship was over?
“Of course, we are. I will never refuse you as a friend. You’re so adorable and I’m interested in your life. I would do so much that you would let me into your world and let me be your best friend.” He said, making Demi smile again. He could be the man, the friend that she was looking for so long. She really wanted to be his friend.
“Okay, friend.” Demi giggled. She took her cup and started drinking her coffee. Wilmer did the same but never left her eyes. He couldn’t stop looking at her, her face was so beautiful, her eyes always made him smile every time. “So, do you have a girlfriend?” She asked, “Oh, I mean I don’t want to cause a trouble to you.” She added as Wilmer gave her a wider smile.
“No, don’t worry. I’m lonely and I have to admit, I love it.” He said and took a sip of a coffee. He looked at her again, but Demi wasn’t looking at him. She was looking somewhere, thinking about something, about she wouldn’t tell Wilmer. It was like… her secrets.
“You know, I hate being lonely. I can’t imagine how I could live alone. It would be the biggest nightmare.” Demi said, still thinking. Her words interested Wilmer. From the first meeting, she was different, she had something inside. In fact, everything in her interested him.
Suddenly their cozy conversation was cut by ringing phone. It was Demi’s call tone. She groaned but got up to answer it. Wilmer groaned and looked back into his cup of coffee. For a moment he thought that maybe she will tell him her secrets or something about her, but he was wrong.
Demi walked to the room and picked up the ringing phone. Her eyes widened when she saw her mother’s ID.
“Hey, mom.” Demi said and looked out of the window.
“WHERE THE FUCK ARE YOU? ”Dianna shouted. She wasn’t cursing often, but if Demi did something stupid, and she did stupid things a lot, she couldn’t control herself.
“I’m at Joe’s.” She lied.
“Of course, Demi, you’re there.” Dianna’s voice was full of sarcasm. “STOP LYING. JOE IS STANDING RIGHT IN FRONT OF US. WITH WHOM AND WHERE ARE YOU?”
“First of all, stop shouting.” Demi groaned as she started to collect her things from the coffee table. “I’m at Wilmer’s, Joe should tell you what he did yesterday, so that’s why I left with Wilmer.” She tried to explain everything.
“Go home right now.” Her mom wasn’t shouting anymore but her voice was still very angry. At least Demi was okay. “If you are not going back in an hour, I’m calling the police.” It was the last words which her mom said before finishing the conversation.
Demi pushed the phone into the purse and walked back to the kitchen, where Wilmer was still drinking coffee. Demi walked in front of him and gave him an apologizing look.
“If you don’t want to go to the jail, take me home.” She said as Wilmer’s eyes widened. “My mom will call cops, if I won’t be at home after an hour.” Demi corrected herself as Wilmer nodded his head and stood up. Without words they walked to Wilmer’s car.
