“If somebody see us here and notice how old we are, and tells to someone else, and if that person know us and tell's more people, our reputation will be over.” Niamith started to make jokes, but when she realized that, what she was thinking could really happen, she stopped.
“Nobody’s here.” I said, smiling. I took a package of juice that had taken to school and turned it into four, so I offered one to each one of my friends.
We were at my house.
The house of my dreams.
My old house.
My parents’ old house.
The house where my father died.
Everyone said it was a normal fire, my mother said it too, but I thought and I still think it was not a simple accident. Someone provoked. Had done it purposely. She seemed more trying to convince himself that it was true than convincing other people.… but maybe I’m wrong.
The grass of the garden had not burned completely and it was growing. The old brown grass transmitted death and destruction, but the grass that had grown was green which transmitted life and hope.
Five years ago, I hadn’t realized one thing, the tree, the only tree that I had planted hasn’t burned. I was happy at that time because I had a small wooden house on top of the same tree which seemed too fragile. Sometimes I was so afraid the tree would fall, but it never fell out...
That was my secret place, which I shared with my supernatural friends.
When I heard that I could talk to the dead people, I came here. At the place where the fire started, I sat down, I tried to lift the fog that exists between the real world and the dead world to talk to my dad. Nothing happened.
I talked to my mom about it and she said I can only speak with supernatural dead people who have unfinished business in the physical world.
I did not understand how my father didn’t have unfinished business, he should be trying to harass for the rest of the life who killed him, but my mother said that he probably found peace.
An image jumped out at me.
Klaus.
“Intrigue. The only feeling I have.” I said, without thinking twice.
“What do you mean?” My witch friend asked. I hadn’t even thought of that, there were two witches now.
“It is so intriguing not to know what Klaus is ...” I finally declared.
“Care...” Lilith was warning me again.
“He is so mysterious, and the smile mixed with the English accent, everybody can fall at his feet. We have to admit.” I contra attacked, making a small and shy smile.
“You are crazy. If you want a good night with someone, lie with Liam, if you want to lie down with Klaus, fine, but for God's sake, take care of yourself and you must have the magic potions handy.” More of the wonderful comments of Niamith were coming out of her mouth.
“You need some lessons on witchcraft.” Meridith said. “I told you a thousand times that we don’t make potions, but spells. We use Latin! We don’t mixture stupid ingredients like the movies.”
My phone rang. "Hi"
"Hello, where are you?" My mother’s voice was worried.
"I'm with my best friends."
"And both of you missed the school?"
"We only had one more class ... I'll explain later, okay?"
"Yes love. Bye."
"Bye mom.”
“Mothers ...” I sighed. “We better go. It’s already 19:30. We're here for hours.” I got up and saw a shadow in the garden. Who’s here? “Come with me down there.”
We climb down all the stairs, except Lilith, she liked to show off the new vampire powers.
Somebody whispered my name. "Who's there?"
"Caroline" The shadow was here but was always dodging the place which I was looking at.
“Is there any of your creepy friends that we can’t see?” Meridith asked.
“I don’t know, I hear footsteps and see shadows, but the spirit will not let me catch him... and focus on his face ...
“We wait for you inside the car.” Niamith started taking the keys.
“If you need anything, call me, I can hear.” Lilith followed the sisters.
I concentrated. I breathed deeply three times and counted to ten. The spirit touched me on the shoulder. I didn’t look, I let that person shown up by his will.
"Who are you?" I asked without turning my face.
"Care ...", the voice ... the loving, husky voice.
"Dad?" I turned suddenly. "Daddy!" I hugged him.
"Honey, I have to be quick. I begged 10 minutes "
"What do you mean? What's going on? "Thousands of questions were forming in my head.
"You know that those who find peace should not be here but I ordered 10 minutes to be with you. I know you've been having many visits from spirits and I know you have many questions about me. "He hugged me again. “How have been going with the powers?"
We started walking a bit and we sat on the floor. "Well, first it was weird but I got used to them."
"The companies are not the best…" He said looking at the car.
"Oh, they are great friends. Different, as I am, but they are wonderful. "
"If you say so, I trust you." He touched me on the face, and with the right index finger touched my upper lip, as he always did. I asked him two or three more questions about how he spent the day, the loneliness, etc..
"I miss you, Daddy." I added in a very calm voice and like I used to when I had a nightmare and I pulled my body into my parents' bed.
"I miss you too little baby." He kissed me again, this time on the forehead, then, he disappeared. A single tear rolled down my face down.
I got up and I ran to the car, but before I felt someone watching me. At the state I found myself, I didn’t even care so I kept going until I heard my name, softly, it was just a whisper. I looked back but there was no one. I continued my way. I got into the car and the song ended with sadness. As my mother would say "What was the world without music?"
“Are you okay? “Niamith asked, looking at me kindly.
“Yes, it is just a little headache, I’m not used to my gifts. Take me home please. I just need to rest."
