“So how was yesterday, after, you know ... you burying her?”
“Nothing too much. Meridith did a few of those spells that all the witches know to her to rest in peace and we left. We couldn’t do anything else there.
“I know, but what will the people say when they start to notice that she isn’t anywhere, especially her parents?”
“If you had not gone to that place at that time someone would discover the body, and the questions were going to begin to doubt what kind of animal could have scored her neck as it appears in vampire movies. So no doubt will remain and no one will ever find out that Lilith or anyone else is not what they seem to be.
“You are right ... But they won’t be able to do their mourning, it makes me head so confused. And it makes me even more confused when I think who could have done this. I asked Klaus if he did it, but he said no, and I don’t know who could have done it.”
“You spoke to him about this?” Niamith asked, in puzzlement.
“Yes, he's nice...” I said no more on that subject but I saw the looks they did to me. I turned back to them don’t see my blushed face but Liam grabbed me.
“Can you come there with me?” He asked, grabbing my hand.
“Sure.” I replied. He pulled me and we arrive near the tree where, in the last year, we had written our names. When we broke up, I went there and wrote "Best Friends Forever". “What's up Liam?”
“Care, I still have feelings this for you.” He pointed to our names and the heart. He moved closer to me. “I know I can’t give much, just popularity here at school but I can also give you love. If you let me.” He caught his breath “I still love you, Care.” He approached his mouth and I couldn’t avoid the inevitable. I yearned for love like him, but I didn’t know if it was his love the one that I needed.
“Liam…” I stopped. “I love you too, Liam, but I can’t do this.” I ended by saying, because my silence was starting to disturb me, and it was becoming embarrassing.
“Why?”
“You are my best friend, yes, we do have history, but… I don’t know, it doesn’t sound like it is going to work.”
He smiled. “I’m going to make you change your mind about that.” He kissed me again, so quickly that I couldn’t avoid again. “See you at lunch.” He said it like he used to before, when we here dating.
“Sure.” I agreed.
That wasn’t right. I loved him. yes, but not that way. He was my best friend. I turned to my friends and they were with the "question mark" stamped at their face, as we called it. And so was Klaus. His blue eyes had gained a darker color and the face was rigid. His chin was drawn. He left apace.
“Can you explain us what just happened?” Niamith asked.
“No, I can’t, because I don’t know what happened...” I took a deep breath. “He said he stills loving me and kissed me, I didn’t know what to do and told him I loved him too, but not that way. He said he was going to make change my mind... This is not right. We enjoyed ourselves at the right time, but we can’t be together anymore.
“What are you going to do?” Meridith asked, softly, but loud enough for me to hear.
“I don’t know. It will reach a certain point that I have to tell him. But the last time we reached this conclusion together. This time he loves me and I don’t love him anymore... But now, I can’t hurt him…
