That night, before going to bed, Klaus hadn’t yet returned home.

I went to the balcony to see if his car was already there. I opened it carefully so the sound wouldn’t spread through the house.

From there could see the whole garden, though the fog was struggling in that lower area, so my eyes couldn’t focus as well as I would like.

I stared at the sky. I had never before bothered to watch the sky, so, I had never noticed that the stars and the constellations were different from there.

I mustn’t have been in the balcony for more than ten minutes, but when I came to myself again, my body was already getting really cold and my clothes were slightly damp due to the humidity that the fog let there. The weather was starting to change, the fog was now high, and the stars couldn’t be seen.

I went back inside. I didn’t want to catch a cold, which wouldn’t be good for me or for my son. I went back into my cold and empty bed. My phone started ringing from nowhere. I did not know the number.

        "Yes?"

"Caroline?" His voice sounded tired and heavy.

"Klaus?" I knew it was him, but I was surprised.

"Don’t come Caroline, whatever they tell you, don’t come." I heard him yell across the line. My heart fell at my feet. I got out of bed and started walking from one side to the other.

"What? Where are you?" He did not answer. "Klaus" I called him. "Klaus"

"You know, Honey, I said you should be careful, I said I would return, we would return." I recognized the voice of one of the elders, she was at the Halloween ritual. "Well dear, now you have two paths. We could kill him as we wanted for centuries, but we reach a conclusion, your boyfriend is a freaking hybrid, half vampire half werewolf. But your son... he may be a mixture of the three, vampire, werewolf and witch.” I still didn’t respond. "The child for him, that’s our proposal." A huge moment of tension was implemented between me, the phone and the witch who spoke to me. I could not answer. "I'll give you until tomorrow to think, when I call you again, I want the answer. Goodbye. "

        "Wait!"

        "What is it?"

"My son is not born yet, how can I deliver him to you?!"

"We have taken care of that." The call was disconnected as my senses.

About an hour later I came to myself. Was cold and I was on the floor. “Elijah!” I screamed, but I lost the strength. “Rebekah! Jane! Joanne!” Their names came out almost like whispers. I waited for them to come as I tried to get up, but I was still without my strength back. Elijah was the first to reach me, he was so worried, and he helped me up.

“Klaus...” I began, but the words got lost in my mouth.

“What about him?” Jane asked, putting her hand on my belly.

“The witches... the witches of my town have him and I feel they are working with the witches from here.”

“Are you serious?” Joanne asked dryly.

“I don’t know. I just know that they will call me back for me to tell them my choice.” Desperation was all over my body. My voice trembled, and I burst into tears. Elijah had me sitting on the bed, but continued to grab my arm tightly.

“What kind of choice?” Kylie said, she was standing beside the door.

“I have to give the child or he is going to die.” Tears flowed much faster, I was disoriented. I could not give my son, but could not lose the person I loved the most in the world die.

Jane brought me tea for me to calm down, which had no effect.

I found myself still as a plant – really quiet -, as began to laugh because of my nerves, or I would cry.

“Everything is going to be okay.” Joanne said, passing a bag of blood to her sister who was brushing my hair.

“No it will not!” I whimpered. “I cannot lose any of them...”

“And you'll not.” Rebekah spoke for the first time since she had entered my room.

“I will, whatever my choice is, I will always lose one of them. I can’t lose one of the-...” A few moments later, Rebekah interrupted me.

“As I said, you will not lose any of them.” She smirked. “Elijah and I have a plan.”
