Chapter 10

Melody's pov

I woke up feeling renewed, like maybe today would be different. Maybe I won't think about Dani and my mom might not hate me today.

Maybe just maybe today will be a good one.

"Hey, Melody I'm leaving in like 5 minutes so you are in charge" Carl instructed.

"Got it" I replied.

He walked out and Jess came back in and walked to her cash register.

"Ugh, I have to pack tonight my flights at like 6 in the morning" she said.

"I'll wake up early too, so we can facetime and stuff" I said.

"You're the best" she replied "I have to pee think you can handle this crowd."

There was only like two people in there so I laughed and nodded my head.

"K, brb"

About two minutes after she left another customer walked through the door. The milkshake machine made a strange noise so I quickly turned around to see what it was.

It was nothing, so I turned back around and saw the person I hoped I would never see again.

Dani.

"Mel!" he said with his big toothy grin.

"Dani." I said trying to avoid eye contact "What what are you doing here?"
"Well, I came back to visit, and hopefully run into you" he replied.

"Dani you shouldn't be here"

"Why? The first thing you say to me after weeks is leave. Really?"

"Go, please" I insisted.

"Mel, I'm not leaving till you tell me whats going on"

"I can't!"

"Why not!"
"Mel, what's going on?" Jess interjected.

"Question of the hour I guess" I muttered.

"Who are you?" Jess asked.

"I'm Daniel"

"Oh OHHHHHH. What was that Carl? You need me in the back?" I glared at her "You heard the man."

"Melody, please at least meet me at the park tomorrow. Please"

"Dani, I'm sorry but I can't"

"At all? Not even for a minute?"

"No" I said and felt the tears filling my eyes.

"Ok. Well see you around then" he said and I saw a tear slip down his face as he rushed out.

As he was walking out, I remembered how love makes people risk everything, and maybe that was something I had to do.

Without a second thought I ran out of DQ. I looked around the street for Dani.

"Dani wait!" I yelled.

He turned around and my heart dropped when I saw that there were now multiple tears streaming down his face.

"I'll see you at the park, at 9:00 no later" I said and saw his face light up.

"You won't regret this, I promise" he said.

"I hope not" I muttered.

I walked back into DQ and saw him do a little victory dance to himself as he walked away.

Boy, was he cute.
