Chapter 19

Melody's pov

"Come on" Dani said getting out of the car and heading towards the trunk.

I stayed put and tried to calm the nerves I currently have. Melody you know you can't stay here forever.You want to be here. You are destined to be with Dani, so now that you are, you better not screw it up.

"Mel, you want to be here right? I just realized that I imposed all these ideas and instructions on you without even asking if it was ok" he asked.

"Yeah. Of course I do. I'm just nervous that they won't like me" he laughed "I know, I know it's silly but these are your best friends and if they don't like me-"

"It won't matter. We love each other and that's all that counts" he gave me a quick peck on the lips and pulled me out of the car.

He directed me towards the front door and I kept telling myself everything was ok.

"Crap. I forgot my keys, but it's ok there are 4 other people living here" Dani said as he knocked on the door.

"Coming!" yelled a male's voice from the other side of the door.

The door opened to reveal a teenage boy who was an inch or two taller than me, brown eyes, and very curly hair.

"Hey Dani, you must be Melody" the boy said.

"Yeah" I said sheepishly.

"I'm Jack" he said.

"Nice to meet you" I replied.

"Same here" Jack said with a cute smirk. I could feel Dani tense up beside me, so I gave him a reassuring squeeze of the hand.

"Where's everybody else?" Dani finally said.

"Um, Jonah's upstairs, Corbyn's out with his girlfriend, and Zach is in the backyard" Jack replied.

"Is the guestroom still free?" Dani asked.

"It has been since we got the house" Jack answered.

"Alright, we're going to put our bags in the rooms and come back down. Or at least that's what I will do, I can't speak for her"

I followed him up the stairs to a long hallway of different doors.

"I was thinking about meeting Lili soon, so we can talk" Dani said.

"That's good. Do you know what you are going to say?" I asked.

"I think so, it's just going to be hard because even though I'm not in love with her I do care about her. She's still a good person"

He turned the knob of what seemed to be his bedroom and there was a teenage boy and girl making out on the bed.

"Woah, sorry man didn't... wait Lili?" Dani questioned and looked back at me "This just got way easier"

"Dani! I'm so sorry. Oh my god I'm such an awful person. Y-You were gone a-and he was here. Oh Dani!" she sobbed.

"I think this is my cue to go" I said turning around and walking away from the door.

"Yeah me too" said the other boy who I guess was named Jonah and he came out after me.

Dani's pov

"Ok Lili, I need you to listen to me. I'm so incredibly sorry but I never had feelings for you. My management suggested a relationship to get publicity for the band. I'm so so so sorry" I explained.

"You are playing me! Using me! I only kissed Jonah because I felt desperate. BECAUSE I LOVE YOU DANIEL! With everything in me. Now I can't explain to any one that we broke up, because we were never together. Let me guess you love her" I stayed silent "Fine, but I promise this will not be the last time you see me" and then she stormed out of the room.

I layed back on the bed and tried to imagine a better way I could have handled that.

Melody's pov

After Jonah and I left the room he walked down the stairs in pure frustration. He grabbed a set of keys and walked out of the front door.

I just sat on the top of the stairwell waiting for some sign that everything was over.

"BECAUSE I LOVE YOU DANIEL!" I heard faintly screamed from the other room.

My heat just sank, she did love him, she does. I took her happiness. I broke her heart.

So, me being the coward that I am ran down the stairs and out of the door. I ran a few feet, keeping my eyes shut tight so no tears would fall, until I ran into someone. We both fell and I looked up and saw a boy maybe a year younger than me, with brown eyes, and brown straight hair like Dani's.

"Are you alright?" he asked.

Not even close.
