Roxanne fluffed her hair a bit, knowing she had to look her best. She was wearing a tight black leather costume, the highest heels in her closet, along with her pink lady jacket. Stacey on her side looking just as hot, was wearing the same costume, her hair tied up in a tight bun, her eyes dark with makeup.
To everyone's surprise, Jasmine was also with them, stabbing the floor with her stilettos. She looked the most comfortable, leading the way through the crowd. All heads turned, which was a great feeling. She was looking around for him, she wanted to see him.
"And this ladies, is why you always come late to a party." Jasmine said.
"This is amazing!" Stacey said, loving the attention.
Roxanne scanned the dance floor. She spotted them dancing, Max wearing a greaser costume, while his date, Mona, wore a fairy costume. She had her hands around his neck, while he looked down at her, his hand around her waist. As if on instinct, he looked up and his jaw dropped. Their eyes met, and she didn't smile. She didn't want to. She looked away and continued to follow Jasmine.

Max didn't know what to do. He was dancing with Mona, his date for the night. His leg wasn't bothering him so much, but he couldn't dance like he used to. He swayed while she moved, her waist circling in an awkward position. They weren't in sync. But he enjoyed her company, and made him forget, at least for a while.
Who the hell am I trying to fool? He thought, as his eyes were scanning the rest of the party. He knew she would show up. Bobby had said so.
And then there she was.
He felt his jaw drop, his arms filling with goosebumps. She looked drop dead gorgeous. His eyes scanned down her perfect curves, those curves he never got to know personally. Her lips were plumped, the pink lipstick bringing them out.
"What are you looking at?" Mona asked, turning.
"Nothing," he lied, feeling guilty.
Mona looked annoyed, crossing her arms.
"What?" He asked "I said it was nothing."
"You were checking out another girl." She said, her face turning red.
"Look, I was caught off guard all right? Everyone's wearing costumes." Max replied. "Let's dance."
Mona said nothing, but placed her arms around him again.
Why does she have to haunt me like that? He thought, wanting to see her again. He didn't have to wait too long.
He could see her dancing with Bradley, around a circle of his friends. PJ was there with Mocha, and Bobby with Stacey.  To his surprise Jasmine was dancing with them, as was Cora.
"Want to go over to my friends?" He asked her, not wanting to be alone. He felt like he was missing out.
"No," she said, leaning her head on his chest. "I don't know them, and I want to enjoy my night."
"That's the thing, I'll introduce you. You already know Bobby and PJ."
"But Jasmine doesn't like me, remember?" Mona said. Max sighed. She was right. He could only watch them from afar.

Roxanne felt free. She hadn't felt like this in years. She danced with Jasmine, taking turns in the center of the circle. Her sexy moves matched her own, they looked like twins, their red hair glittering under the lights. She couldn't help but look at Max's direction, his eyes meeting hers. She hated Mona, but what was done was done. But she wasn't going to make it easy on her.
Jasmine also spotted Max dancing with her. Jasmine smirked and stopped dancing.
"Let's take this dance to Max!" Jasmine yelled, while the rest cheered on. She led the way, Roxanne following behind. What was she doing?
"Max! Join us!" Jasmine said, dancing right next to him. "What are you doing?!" Mona asked annoyed. "He's with me!"
"I'm not here to fight. I'm here to dance!" Jasmine said, squeezing between them. The rest of them began dancing around them, Bobby nudging Max on the shoulder.
"HEY!" Mona yelled annoyed. "He's my date!"
"But he's not your boyfriend, right?" Jasmine said, pointing Roxanne over. Roxanne shook her head.
"C'mon!" Jasmine said, pushing Mona out of the way. Roxanne sighed.
"Here" Jasmine said, pushing them together. Roxanne held her breath as she stared up at Max. He looked down at her, her heart beating fast.
She wasn't going to be afraid of him. Or Mona. She began to dance, moving her hips against him. She turned and brushed her long hair across Max's face. He laughed and grabbed her, something she wasn't expecting. She hadn't danced with him in years, but her body remembered the way his moved. She felt his hand behind her back, holding her steady. Everyone disappeared. All she could see was him.

Mona couldn't believe she had be outdone by Roxanne again! She took a drink of her beer, and slammed it down on the table top. Jasmine was right. Max wasn't her boyfriend. But she had to make it happen. She had already gotten a date with him tonight, and she shouldn't have given into Jasmine so easily.
"C'mon, one drink." Bradley said to Cora.
"You know I don't drink." Cora laughed. Roxanne was standing next to them, her face flushed.
"Yeah just a ginger ale for me." Roxanne said.
Mona looked around. Max wasn't with them.

"Why are you hanging out with her?" Jasmine asked him.
Max shrugged. He regretted it when the song ended. He had danced with the love of his life. It had felt so right.
"She's just there, she makes me forget." Max admitted.
"Dump her. For your sake. I know you Max, I loved you once. I know you're not in love with me, if you ever were. You're in love with Roxanne, not Mona. I've never seen two people meant for each other."
Max sighed. "I did love you, but it wasn't the same."
Jasmine smiled. She was so beautiful. No wonder he had fallen for her the first time. She looked at him with those familiar green eyes he had adored once.
"I don't care anymore. I don't know what my heart wants. I'm at peace. But don't trust Mona. That's what I'm trying to say." Jasmine said, extending her legs out on the bench. They were sitting outside, getting some fresh air. "Ugh, speak of the devil."
Mona approached them.
"Hey Max,"
"See you later," Jasmine said to him, completely ignoring her. Max shook his head.
"Why did you leave me?" She asked, her eyes were red. Had she been crying?
"I'm sorry. My friends wanted to dance with me." Max said, patting the bench for her to sit down. "I'm all yours now."
"I know they're your ex-girlfriends. I'm not stupid." Mona said. Max felt the blood rush up his face. He knew that everyone knew about Jasmine. They had been the it couple since sophomore year. But Roxanne?
"Does it bother you?" Max asked, not knowing what to say.
"Yes it does. If you want to continue seeing me, you have to stop with them. It's not fair to me." Mona said crossing her arms. "We've dated for about a month now, and I have no idea where this is going."
Where was this going? What did he hope to get with Mona?
"I don't know," Max said honestly. "I thought we were having fun."
"I am, but I can't act like it doesn't bother me. You have to choose." Mona said.
