"Stop crying Peej," said Jasmine, frustrated. They had searched two buildings already, all in vain. "I should have gone with Bradley."
"Sorry," she heard PJ muffle.
"Give him a break. He just lost his girlfriend." Tony remarked.
"I can't! That's exactly why he should be taking initiative but instead he decides to cry and just follow us around. He hasn't been exactly looking."
She sighed, rolling her eyes. Part of her was annoyed for having chosen Tony and PJ over Max and Bradley, but she had to move on from them. She still held strong feelings for the both of them, and she knew this was toxic. It wasn't healthy. She would only be harming herself.
"I need a cig," she said softly, reaching for her bag. She placed her flashlight on top of a dusty filing cabinet.
"Hey, don't," said Tony, eyeing her. "Those are bad for you."
"I've never heard that before," she said sarcastically. She pulled out her lighter. "Peej?"
"I- I don't smoke," he said, eyes on the floor. She shrugged.
They were in a large room, ones that reminded Jasmine of her therapy sessions during high school. Apparently she had abandonment issues. Figures.
She walked past the long familiar couch she knew all too well, worn out and faded from age. A stool sat not to far from it, cold and uninviting.
What distinguished the room was the large glass window. It looked out towards the back of the building, facing a row of tall, leafless trees. Jasmine had never seen any window so huge. It took up more than half the wall space and continued off toward the ceiling.
Her nerves were shit. She was scared. She could see the dark clouded sky, the lightning that seemed to only get closer and closer. She inhaled, feeling her body shake.
The rain had begun to fall, blurring her vision. She turned to face the guys. PJ was standing by the door, lost in thought.
Where had Mocha gone off to? Was she okay? Jasmine couldn't help but worry. She had been cruel to expect anymore of PJ. She would have been the same.
"Hey, let's get back to looking," she said, grabbing her flashlight. "It's raining. We need to find something to keep us dry."
"I don't think we'll find anything," Tony said as they both made their way toward the door. PJ put a hand out to stop them.
"Turn your lights off. Hurry." He whispered.
"What why?" she asked, clicking the button off. Tony did the same. The room was dark.
She saw a small flash of lightning, the rain falling harder now. She could hear it leaking into the room, from the cracks and holes in the ceiling. It was followed by a large roar of thunder, which caused her to jump a little. Tony put a reassuring hand on her shoulder, steading her.
"I hear voices. Someone else is in here," PJ whispered, closing the door gently. "We have to hide."
"What if it's Max or Bradley? Or Bobby?" Tony suggested.
"Trust me guys, it's not." PJ said.
Jasmine didn't know what to do."What if it's just other college kids exploring the asylum. It's Halloween night, they were bored and decided to explore. Nothing strange about that right?"
"It is. This place is not easy to find. It took me hours of reading up on the place and countless of failed attempts to locate it. It's not on a map or something." Tony said firmly. This worried her.
