Eggman's Lair

"Wow, that was your plan all along?" Miles asked, looking at the screen, unamused.

"Are you nuts? Of course not!" Eggman protested, "Do you really think I, the evil genius Dr Eggman, would only have one trick up his sleeve?"

"Yes." Jaylee muttered.

"Seems like it." Scourge added.

"You guys are so stupid. This is simply a decoy." Eggman grinned, watching the screen, "They think that I attacked Shadow and only Shadow. But that's when you two attack." He pointed to Scourge and Jaylee, "We attack and bring Jayde back at her weakest moment – we can use her against her team and bring them to their knees."

Jaylee yawned, "That's great. When can we start this?"

The doctor grinned, "Tomorrow."

"This better be worth it." Scourge muttered, glancing over at the dark green bat who scoffed at him, "What?" he snapped.

"Trust me, with me, it will be worth it." Torrent grinned, "All I want is revenge on that Ultimate Lifeform – you want revenge on that grey hedgehog. They are a pair – if we take one, the other will fall. We can end both of them."

Jaylee sat up, suddenly interested in the topic, "Well, we already know what we are going to do with Jayde. What are you going to do to Shadow?"

Torrent stood up and began walking out. He chuckled darkly, his orbs piercing the darkness as he spoke, "I'm going to make sure he suffers – just like I did."

The Next Day

Tails' Workshop

Jayde just stared. What else could she do? She had never seen him like this before but everyone else had. Sonic, Knuckles, Rouge, Amy – everyone. He looked so weak and vulnerable.

After the events of last night, they all agreed with Tails' idea of getting everything unneeded out of his system, and the only way to do that was to put him in a tank full of special water – just like back on the ARK. The twin tailed fox had gathered information from GUN to make sure he didn't do it wrong, and within a few hours, Shadow was isolated in a container. He would wake, whenever he did, but he wouldn't be able to do anything.

Sonic sighed as he watched Jayde place her hand on the tank, ears pinned back, and walked over to her. She sensed his presence, "What if he gets mad?"

"Not 'if', he will get mad – but he'll understand that we did it for a good reason." The blue blur answered, pulling up a chair next to her.

"Won't this bring up bad memories for him?"

Sonic shook his head, and Tails spoke up, "It shouldn't because he's not in suspended animation. He can still move, he can still talk, but until whatever is in his system is cleared, he can't come out."

Jayde looked back that the Ultimate Lifeform, "Can he get out of there?"

Tails nodded, "That glass is only strong if he wants it to be. Shadow could easily break out – but he just needs to think about how this will benefit him." He said, "Whatever Eggman put into him during that blast is turning him evil, but the substance in the tank should clear out anything that shouldn't be there."

Jayde nodded. No matter how much she hated seeing him this way, she knew is was good for him. Sonic nudged her, "Hey, don't worry. The process shouldn't take that long – a week max."
