Clarke's point of view

I felt myself drifting in and out of consciousness, my body beginning to wake but my brain constantly tugging it back into sleep.
When the sleep finally faded from my system, I was abruptly woken by small, cold droplets falling on my cheeks. I groaned, opening my eyes.
It was still dark out, the rain clouds blocking the sky and threatening a heavy downpour.
Propping myself up on my elbows, I looked around. Bellamy was beginning to stir, nestling closer to me to protect his face from the irritating droplets of rain. The groups of people spread out across the clearing were waking up, as well. I envied the groups that I had spied the night before making for the tiny patches of greenery and trees a little ways off from the bunker: they were probably still sound asleep in the shelter that the trees provided.
I had sat up, unzipping the sleeping bag and placing my hand on Bellamy's shoulder to shake him awake, when I heard the screaming.
I froze, my gaze whipping to one of the larger patches of trees about 2 minutes away from the bunker. A group of three or four came sprinting toward us from the trees, looking as if they had just seen a ghost.
The creature that emerged from the trees in pursuit of the group wasn't like anything I had ever seen.
Its pale, corpse-like skin seemed to glow in the gloom of the surroundings. It ran on all fours, glistening black claws extended from its freakishly long fingers and toes. Its arms were stretched out, elbows facing upwards as it ran, its body twisting like a large lizard. Its knees were turned backwards, taking on the shape of a four-legged animal's hind legs. Its jaw was limp in a constant gaping expression, its eyes pure black and lifeless.
It was a mutated human.
As soon as the realization hit me, we were swarmed from all sides by horrific mutated creatures, some eight feet tall, some with gnashing teeth, some with extra sets of limbs.
Along with them, familiar-looking robots and people in radiation suits. All of them were armed.
Eligus was attacking us.
Everything became a blur after that.
Recognizing that we were in no way prepared for this battle, Octavia was yelling through the screams and gunfire for everyone to retreat into the bunker. Bellamy and I busied ourselves with assisting her, drawing everyone that we could into the bunker without getting ourselves shot or torn apart.
I caught a glimpse of Indra wielding her sword against a beast with two heads, the warrior woman slicing one off the hissing heads off of the creature. A little girl with blonde hair was hiding behind her, terrified.
I began to make my way over to them but Bellamy brushed by me, pressing his hand on my shoulder as he passed.
As I searched the clearing for any more stragglers, I spotted a desperate-looking Kane escorting a limping woman into the bunker. He stopped beside me, ushering the woman to the bunker doors.
"Have you seen your mother?" He asked, breathless.
And just like that, a wave of realization washed over me. I hadn't seen my mother at all this morning.
"N-no. I haven't, but I'll find her. Get in the bunker," my voice was hoarse from yelling.
Madi. Where was she?
Is if to answer me, I heard a weak cry, "Clarke..."
Turning towards the sound, I saw my little nightblood laying on her side on the ground, clutching at her abdomen. I needed to get to her before the Eligus people saw that she had nightblood, which was currently spilling onto the muddy ground.
So, forgetting about my injury, I sprinted towards her, picking her up in my arms.
Her little hands were covered in blood, and I felt my shirt becoming soaked in it. She was losing way too much. I saw her eyes rolling up into her head before her eyelids fluttered shut.
"Hey, Madi, stay with me, okay? I've got you, you're going to be fine, alright?" I was desperate, scared, and I could hear it plainly in my voice.
I sprinted back to the bunker door, pushing myself as hard as I could go. I could feel my wound tearing open again, the warm blood rushing down my leg. All I cared about right now was getting Madi to safety; I could deal with my leg later.
As I was closing in on the bunker, I saw from the corner of my eye that the Eligus people had noticed me. Suddenly, I felt stinging pain across my back. A bullet must have grazed me. I gritted my teeth. I had to keep going.
I skidded to a halt above the bunker door, rushing down the stairs and handing Madi off to Kane, who had been waiting for me.
I suddenly felt lightheaded, my vision blurring as I heard a voice that sounded distinctly like Bellamy's asking me what was wrong. Darkness swept over me, my legs giving out from under me. I felt myself hit a pair of outstretched arms, the last thing that I was aware of was the slam of the bunker door sealing shut.

Bellamy's point of view

"I know what to do raven," I sigh, rolling my eyes and taking the needle and thread from her hand. "Just hold the skin together."
Nodding, Raven held it in place and I began to run the needle through Clarke's thigh.
Finally it stays together and I tie the thread, chopping off the end.
"There," I sigh. "All better."
As I start to wash my hands I notice Kane walk into the room.
"How is Madi?" I ask worriedly.
"Not so good Bellamy," he sighs, placing a hand on his forehead.
"Wait, what do you mean?"
"Look we can't get the bullet out of her abdomen... nobody has the skill to do it except Abby and Clarke."
As I think of the next step, my gaze goes to Clarke. She would never forgive me if I let Madi die. After all, she will shortly hear the news about her mother and she can't lose another family member.
Then my thoughts are broken as Clarke's eyes flutter open. She places a hand on her head and sits up groggily.
"What happened..." she moans. Then her eyes grow wide and she looks up at me worried. "where is Madi?"
"That's the thing," I sigh, placing a hand on Clarke's shoulder. "Madi has been shot... and we can't get the bullet out. We need you to come and take it out."
Clarke's lets out a small gasp. "How long as she been out!?" She yells.
"About an hour."
She lets out a loud gasp this time and jumps to her feet. Before she can make a run for it, I swoop her into my arms and carry her to madi.
"Bellamy she could be dead!" She yells at me.
"She is breathing Clarke... Jackson is monitoring her."
She shakes her head and yells at me to walk faster.
"I can only walk so fast with  you in my arms."
She sighs reassuringly soon as we walk into the room Madi lays.
"Oh Madi!" She cries as I stand her next to the unconscious child.
"Okay I'm going to list some tools I need you to get me," she says, looking up at Monty and I.
"Got it."

After the surgery and Clarke cleaned up, I took her to one of the vacant bedrooms that were used back during priamfaya. I didn't want to worry the others if Clarke had any type of panick attack so this bedroom was as far from the others I could get. Then I sat her down on one of the beds.
"Okay Clarke," I sigh, sitting on the chair across from her.
"What?" She asks confused.
"We need to talk..."
"Bellamy, about last night, I know it was to soon and-"
"No Clarke," I say louder, cutting her off. "It's about your mom."
The colour in her face drains. "W-what?"
"Look..." I pause, choosing my words carefully. "Your Mom had a sickness down in the bunker... I'm not sure what it's called. Anyway she was getting worse and worse, she was losing weight, strength, memory... the point is, she was outside when Eligus attacked and, because of her weakness, she couldn't run and... she didn't make it inside the bunker."
As I explain I watch Clarke's eyes swell with tears.
"My Mom is d-dead," she whispers to herself.
"Clarke I'm so sorry."
She looks up at me and throws her body onto me, sobbing into my shoulder. I wrap my arms around her small frame and and rock her back and forth, rubbing her back. She lets out a sniffle and backs out of my grasp.
"Wait... you knew that my mom was sick? And you never told me?"
Oh no.
"Clarke..."
"How could you keep that from me!?" She screams.
I jump at the pitch of her voice, not expecting the sudden outburst.
Sure, we are in the farthest room away but I'm 100% sure everyone can hear.
"I just didn't want to worry you," i sigh.
"Worry me?! My mother was slowly dying and you didn't wanna worry me!?" She screams again, and then she does something I would never expect Clarke to do. She had hit me. Hard.
As her hand collides with my cheek a nasty fire spreads where her hand leaves. As I clutch my cheek I look up at her in shock. When I meet her eyes she is shocked as well. Then, without even thinking, I hit her back.
As her body falls into the bed, she looks up, clutching the left side of her face. I look down at my hand in shock and feel tears forming in my eyes, ready to explode. As I run out the door, not looking back, I hold my hand to my cheek, and meet Kane's eyes. He looks at me worriedly and the water works start. I run past him and into the office room where Kane stayed during priamfaya, slamming the door and falling to the ground. I look at my hands as tears slide down my face. Why did I hit her? It was like I had no control. No feelings. It just happened.
