Bellamy's point of view
I walk through the trees, watching Clarke ahead of me. She doesn't look back.
I want to run up beside her and lace her in a hug, run my fingers through her golden hair, and place my lips on hers. I want to go back to our hidden room and hold her in my arms. But for some reason that doesn't seem possible.
Clarke lets out a long heavy sigh, breaking the silence.
"Hey... how you feeling?"
She turns back and looks at me as I run up beside her.
"A little dizzy..." she says quietly.
"Want me to carry you?" I ask worriedly.
"No."
Her answer was quick and simple.
I nod and look forward.
"I wonder what that thing even was."
"I'm guessing something from Euligus..." she whispers.
"Hey... Clarke are you okay?"
She nods and steps forward, only to have her legs give in, hitting the ground.
"Clarke!"
I pull my arms out to catch her but miss, her head hitting a rock.
I quickly wrap my arm around her back and under her legs, pull her up
into my arms.
We got to get back now.
————————————————————Clarke's point of view
My eyes fluttered open to the white light of Medical that I had become accustomed to in these past five days.
I slowly sat up to wake myself up a bit more, unconsciously listening to the sounds of Medical coming from outside my drawn curtain.
Medical had been busier than usual due to all of the removing of debris and rebuilding taking place back up on the ground. People were coming in with the most minor of injuries: scrapes, broken bones, a dislocated limb now and then.
When Jackson had told me about all of this a couple days ago, I was taken back to the innocent days of the dropship. I remembered how the kids never seemed to leave me alone with their incessant whining over scrapes and aches obtained from building Bellamy's wall.
I had thought about how boring dealing with those kinds of injuries must be for Jackson, and so I made him a promise to start working alongside him in Medical once I got over my concussion. He seemed relieved at the promise of having someone at his level working in Medical again.
Madi had been in to visit me a couple times. She was usually busy, but with what she wouldn't tell me. She had said that it was a surprise, and I would know once I felt better.
I hadn't seen Bellamy since I passed out after my fall. I tried not to worry about it. He was probably busy too. But, a part of my mind still nagged that he was avoiding me, that he was still angry with me.
Now, as I absently ran my fingers over the cheek that my stitches had recently been taken out of, I suddenly remembered my concussion. Or rather, my lack of one.
Jackson had confined me to Medical until I fully recovered from my concussion. When my pounding headache had finally dulled enough for me to think properly a few days later, he let me start to take short walks around the bunker to let me get used to regular activity again. Now that I felt like I could run a marathon around the bunker, I needed to get his permission to leave.
I swung my legs over the narrow bed and slipped my feet into my boots. Shrugging on my jacket, I pulled back my curtain and made my way into the main part of Medical.
After getting the "Okay" from Jackson, I was stepping up the stairs to the bunker door in no time. As soon as I was out of the door, I was immediately hit by sounds of commotion.
I looked around, noticing that most of the debris had been cleared away from the ground. I also noticed the construction of a wall being built in a ring around Polis.
Upon taking a walk through the new city, I discovered that they had already built a new sparring ring (most likely under the instruction of Octavia), and some of the buildings that withstood Praimfaya had been repaired.
As I continued to walk, I spotted a familiar face sitting outside of the sparring ring. My spirits soared.
"Madi!"
She looked up from sharpening the sword in her lap, grinning with surprise and excitement as she saw me.
We ran towards each other, embracing in a quick hug before Madi took my hand and lead me to sit beside her on the stone slab that she had been sitting on.
"So, remember how I've been really busy? And I said that I'd tell you when you got better?" Madi asked, practically bouncing in excitement.
I nodded, waiting for her to continue.
"Well, when I was out on that mission with Octavia, we ran into a Plague beast too. It had these big, beady eyes, and long fingers with giant claws. It climbed up on a building and jumped down on Octavia before she even saw it coming. It pinned her down and knocked the rifle out of my hand. I dodged its attacks, grabbed Octavia's sword and I rammed it into its chest and killed it!"
I grinned, pride blossoming in my chest. "Good job, Madi!"
"Octavia said I handled myself well and, once everyone was moved out of the bunker, she made me a Wonkru noviciate. I'm Octavia's second, Clarke!" She squealed, beaming at me.
The smile on my face faded a bit, realization spilling over me.
If Octavia were to die, Madi would most likely take her place as Commander. That was too much of a responsibility, and Madi was still so young. Did Octavia even tell her any of this?
Madi's mouth was still running a mile per minute. "It's so awesome being the Commander's second! I've learned so much, and all of the other noviciates are jealous of me. Probably because I'm getting the best training experience, and I'll be a better warrior than all of them when we're done our training."
Octavia hadn't told her. What the hell was she thinking?
"Clarke? What's wrong? You don't seem too happy for me."
Madi's concerned tone brought me back from my whirl of thoughts. I couldn't tell her that she was next in line to be Commander, it would scare her too much.
No, I needed to talk to Octavia and find out what she was trying to accomplish here.
I smiled at Madi, trying to reassure her. "Madi, I'm so proud of you. You deserve to be the Commander's second."
She wasn't convinced. "Then what's wrong?"
I shook my head. "It's nothing, I'm just..." As she narrowed her eyes at me, I sighed, quickly finding an excuse. "I've just been worried about Bellamy. He hasn't been in to see me, and I just need to know if he's doing okay."
Madi smirked knowingly. "He's out on a hunting patrol with Harper and a couple of others right now. You should talk to him when he gets back." She waggled her eyebrows suggestively at me.
I snorted, giving her a playful shove.HEY GUYS OMG BELLARKE HAS REUNITED AND OMG THAT HUG IM NOT OKAY... I'm sorry but... I'm excited.
This look killed me.❤️
