The halls of the Eligus ship held the same effect as the ones of the Ark: cold, dull, and prison-like.
The room that Madi and I were staying in, however, was nicer than I expected. Sure, it was still technically a cell, but at least it contained a bunk bed (which wasn't rock solid, so that's a bonus), a small table set to eat on when we got our food trays, and a bathroom. There was even a rug on the floor so our feet didn't get cold when we took off our shoes, and a little bookshelf containing a few books in the corner of the room.
I had asked the female Shell that had escorted me from the High Superior's office to my room why it was so nice.
She had responded, "Madam Daphne didn't want you both to feel like prisoners, what with you two saving our lives and all."
Madi especially enjoyed the books provided to us. I saw an opportunity to better her reading skills so I asked her to read a story aloud to me, and I helped her whenever she struggled on a word.
Madi and I took turns showering for the first time in weeks. The warm water worked wonders for my ever-tense muscles.
Before we fell asleep, I told Madi about my success in contacting my friends on the Ring, and how they were going to be coming down very soon. I knew the news would brighten her mood after she heard about the deal that I had made with Madam Daphne. I was right; she was overjoyed that she was finally going to meet her heroes from the stories that I had told her for all these years.
The next morning, a young girl with long strawberry blonde hair and blue eyes that had introduced herself as Amanda, a medical assistant, entered our room wheeling in a cart equipped with the supplies she needed to draw our blood.
She'd asked for Madi to sit down on one of the chairs at our table. As she prepped the syringe, I comforted Madi with the thought of getting to see her heroes in person for the very first time, and finally freeing Onekru and imagining how many friends she was going to make.
When Amanda inserted the needle into the vein in Madi's arm, I looked on with pride as Madi hardly even flinched.
The moment before the needle went into my own arm, I noticed the array of freckles on Amanda's cheeks and was immediately reminded of Bellamy. My heart soared as I imagined being able to see the constellations of freckles on his face. Being able to touch them.
As the needle went in, I didn't feel the pain.§§§
We were finally allowed to leave several hours later, when it was determined that nightblood was indeed the cure to the Hyper-Plague. Madi and I were escorted outside, where we noticed the rover waiting.
Before the door to the Eligus ship closed, one of the guards turned back to me. I recognized him to be the Shell that had spoken into my radio before I blacked out.
He gestured to the rover. "We had to leave you a few of your guns and a couple boxes of ammo," he made an irritated sigh, "Daphne's orders."
I smirked smugly.
"Hey now, don't get too cocky!" He retorted. "I heard you two have a week to dig out a bunker from underneath a collapsed tower. Those guns," he pointed to the rover, and then back at himself, "are mine."
I laughed. "We'll see. A lot can happen in seven days."
"The clock is ticking," he shrugged, turning to walk back into the ship, calling out, "Happy diggin'!"
Once the door closed behind him, Madi looked at me. "Is he really a robot?"
"Yeah. A heavily armoured robot obsessed with guns. Just what the world needs."
Madi and I shared a laugh before getting into the rover.

The last burst echos through the shuttle. Echo grabs my hand and squeezes out of fear. I look toward her and smile slightly as she lets go.
"Everybody hold on!"
I grab echos hand once more to calm her and hold onto my strap for dear life with my other hand. Echo looks toward me and smiles before closing her eyes. I look back toward everyone else who has their eyes closed too. I close my eyes and prepare to hit the water. Hard.
Then I feel it. Pain shooting from my feet to my head, throughout my entire body. I look toward the floor and see water slowly rising. I see everyone rushing to unbuckle their restraints but I can't move at all. I look back to echo who fumbles with her restraint, then all a sudden, everything goes black.

We had just arrived at our campsite on the hill and were checking to make sure our supplies were in order when Madi noticed it.
"Clarke, what is that?"
I followed the direction of her pointed finger into the darkening sky, and, taking a few steps closer to the edge of the hill, I saw it.
It started out small at first, like a falling star blazing against the dark backdrop of the sky. I could make out the intricate details of the falling rocket once it got closer to the ground.
I felt the smile naturally curl the corners of my mouth.
Madi must have noticed my expression. "Is it really...?" She asked quietly.
I looked down at her, beaming. I nodded.
Her eyes widened, her smile revealing her teeth.
"Let's go meet them," I laughed.
Madi let out an excited squeal, racing me to the rover.

I open my eyes to a blinding light. I sit up as I put my hand up, shielding the light. Beside me sat Echo. She starred at the shuttle slowly sinking into the water. "We made it," I whispered. He head whips toward me and a huge smile spreads on her face. "You okay?"
I nod and stand up. I'm dripping wet, water running off my chin. I look up to the sun, brightly shining on the planet. I look around at the trees, small flowers growing under them. I turn to see Raven, Monty, and Harper smiling as they look around the beautiful planet. My mind is taken by a loud sound coming from the trees, but I can't see anything through the think branches and leaves. The sound gets louder and louder until small hints of black and grey pass through the trees, moving quickly. Then I see it. The rover. The rover I drove six years ago. How did it survive the death wave? And who is driving it? It slows to a stop and turns off. Then the doors slowly open on each side. A small girl jumps out of the passenger side. She has dark brown hair and looks around the age of 13. I look to ravens, monty's, and harpers direction. They all have eyes on the rover. I look back to the rover and two feet step out, the body still hidden by the large metal door. The young girl runs toward the other person still behind the door. Then once the rover door slams shut, I see her. Before I can even think my legs start moving from under me. I couldn't think, I could only move. Before I know it my body is slammed into her small figure. I wrap my arms around her and lift her up into the air, spinning her around. Tears run down my cheeks as I hide my head in between her head and he shoulders. I cant speak. I just hold her in my arms, tears flowing down my cheeks, "clarke..."
