Be The Person Your Dog Thinks You Are

I have been in a state of terror, sadness, rage, frustration, grief and dismay over the Parkland shooting tragedy.  These are mere words that cannot fully describe the turbulence I am feeling.  But I believe wallowing in the darkness cannot do much about making the world a better place, so I am looking for the positives.

This is something I have done diligently since the world has been upside down with this regime in the White House.  I have created lists about the positive things that come out of unimaginable nightmares and the Parkland shooting forced me to put the pen to the paper again.

There is nothing that will soothe the terror of what has happened too many times with guns and violence—I know. But I have kept a watch for the goodness that has bubbled up to help make sense of it all.  And I found the dogs!

The therapy dogs!  The people who train these amazing canines came from all over the county to be at the school when the students arrived.  The dogs and owners were present to help support healing.  For me, that is pure love and joy at its finest.  A gift that these amazing furry creatures gave to grieving young people to make their lives more manageable.  To be able to enter the building that held such trauma. The therapy dogs hopefully helped them see and feel a glimmer of hope to be able to trust that the world is not all bad.

There is tons of information about therapy dogs and many articles written about this goodness so keep an eye out for these inspirational stories—especially if you are feeling depressed or down.  I know it has helped me seeing the dogs.   And hugging my own at home when I feel like I need a boost.  Dogs and other pets are amazing.  And the people who train and license them and immobilize when desperately needed deserve a huge hug too.

Dogs have unconditional love.  They believe in us too and the quote I used to title and add as a visual hopefully helps each reader go forth into their life remembering this message.  Be kind. Share unconditional love.  Support each other and do good things.
