Alayna huffed as she finished cleaning up the files and stacking them neatly on the table. She hated not being able to go out into the field with the boys, but she always knew if things got rough out there she'd be grateful she decided to stay behind and her child was safe. It was still frustrating to play the waiting game, to try and guess what was happening out there and when they'd be getting back. All sorts of thoughts rampaged her mind as she waited for them.
"Portability." Castiel's deep voice echoed throughout the hotel room not even twenty minutes after they'd originally flashed out of there. Alayna gasped at the sudden sight of them before it melted into a frown at the kid he laid down on one of the beds.
"What did you guys do?" She asked, startled as she hurried over to the unconscious boy. He couldn't have been any older than 14 and she couldn't even begin to understand why they'd take him.
"He sold his soul to an Angel for a piece of the Staff." Castiel told her shortly, barely giving any other details. Though, it'd be unCas-like if she actually understood what he was saying for once.
She turned wide eyes up at him, "So, you kidnapped him?" She shrilled, turning her incredulous eyes on the two boy - silently asking them how they could just let him do something like that.
"If the angel we seek truly bought this boys soul, when a claim is laid on a living soul, it leaves a mark, a brand." Castiel explained and Alayna sat back on the side of the bed beside the young boy, trying to make sense of it all. This is exactly why she didn't like missing out on the action - missing details - plot holes.
"What like a...like a shirt tag at camp?" Sam asked.
Castiel starred at him for a moment, clueless as to what that meant or if the comparison was accurate. "I have no idea. But I can read the mark and find the name of the angel that bought the soul." Cas informed them.
"How?" Dean asked.
"Well, painfully for him. It will be excruciating." Alayna frowned at Castiel's words, watching - startled - as he rolled up his sleeve.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa. Hold On." Dean was the one to cut in, his wide green eyes zoning in on the Angel.
"Dean." Cas began, sounding annoyed.
"He's a kid Cas, a kid. Sam?" Dean turned to Sam for support, but he didn't get any. Alayna's eyebrows furrowed at the look on the younger Winchesters face, was he really about to let a kid get tortured right in front of him.
"Any permanent damage?" Sam asked Cas, ignoring the shocked looks from both his brother and Alayna.
"Okay, hold on." Alayna broke in, pushing up to her feet with wide eyes. "No," she said simply, raising up both her pointer fingers for emphasis. "No, this is ridiculous. This shouldn't even be a question, right now."
"Alayna, if I get the name I can work a ritual to track the angel down." Castiel told her and Alayna folded her arms across her chest.
"There's gotta be another way," She tried to reason with him. This was just crazy.
"There is no other way." Cas argued.
"You're gonna torture a kid?" Dean stepped back in, turning wide eyes n the Angel. He'd hit some low points in this line of work, but this was beyond that. This was just some normal kid who got mixed in with the wrong kind of creatures in hopes of avenging his brother.
"I can't care about that." Castiel cut in sharply, serious eyes darting between Dean and Alayna. She could see how much he was fighting to stay stoic about the whole situation. "I don't have the luxury."
