"Alright, okay..." Dean gently laid Jackson down gently in the portable crib - the three month old finally fast asleep. The five of them were at Jason's - the older hunter had been putting out lines on this whole Mother of All thing, and they had come to check up on a lead he found. Dean brushed off his hands, giving his son one last look over - like if he blinked, he'd disappear - before turning to where Sam and the girls were gathered around the table with Jason. "What do you got?"

Jason pointed to a map he had laid down. "I've been getting blasts from hunters all week. Nest of vamps. Werewolf dance party. Shifters, six of them." He circled three consecutive towns on the map before looking up. "Two hunters died taking them out."

A sympathetic noise left Alayna's throat. "Who?"

"None you'd know." Jason continued circling areas on the map. "Ghouls. Ghouls. Ghoul-wraith smorgasbord."

Dean studied the map. "Is that just me, or is that a straight-kick line down 1-80?"

"Exactly."

"Looks to me like it's a Sherman march monster mash."

Jason let out a snort of amusement at Dean's words, but Sam just rolled his eyes. "Where are they marching to." Jason didn't answer, not with words anyway. He reached out and circled the town at the end of the red line he drew on the map. "What's that."

"Guy bashes in his family's head."

"Great," Karoline sighed, running a hand through her hair. "When are we heading out?"

"If we leave now we can get there by tonight," Dean put in. "Hit the crime scene tomorrow."

Jason nodded, bouncing his eyebrows, "I'll see if Lisa will babysit." He told Alayna who gave a small nod and a grateful smile.

One Year Ago...

The steam filled the bathroom and fogged up the mirror - causing the air around him to be thick, but he didn't pay it any mind. Sam reached up a hand to wipe away the fog and stare at his reflection - blank Hazel eyes stared back at him. Three months he'd been mysteriously risen from the dead and two of those three months he'd been staying with his Grandfather in the compound - also who had been mysteriously risen from the dead.

Just last week he had finally been able to track down Dean and Alayna. They were staying with Jason up in Indiana. He knew he should've gone in and told them he was alive, done something - but deep down he didn't want to and honestly, he didn't feel like he needed to. He was better off without them, just the same he knew they'd be better off without him.

With a sigh, he draped the towel around his neck - walking off into his room in only a pair of pants to go grab a T-shirt. He stopped at the blonde lounging on his bed and flicking through his phone. Carolynn Gilbert - Karoline and Alayna's dead aunt who also rose from the dead three months ago.

"I know, you were dead for a little while but, uh, knocking is still a thing." He sassed, and her green eyes flickered up from the bright phone screen to his face.

Carolynn sighed softly at his sarcastic smile, "you know what wasn't a thing, cell phones." She wiggled the phone for emphasis. "Who's this girl I keep seeing."

Sam stopped what he was doing, holding the t-shirt between his hands as he looked back at the picture she was flashing. It was of him and Alayna, both smiling at the camera as he draped his arm around her shoulders. "Alayna."

She quirked an eyebrow in response, "an ex-girlfriend?"

"Yeah," Sam sighed. "Not that it matters. I'm done with her."
