Castiel is Dead.

"Cas!" Karoline called out, stumbling into the present as the sudden reality of their situation.

"Kare!" Dean and the girls were close behind, but she couldn't tell who was calling to her, either way she just kept running. She tore down the shoreline and into the lake reaching only her knees before hands were around her waist, hauling her backwards. "Kare! Stop it! It's too late."

"Let me go!" Karoline kicked at Dean, but he held on tight, and she could do nothing but watch as the Leviathans and Castiel disappear from sight. "Cas!"

Alayna made her choice.

He looked over at Alayna, eyebrows scrunched up in confusion and indignity, and the brunette shook her head. "Cake's nothing like pie," the Winchester insisted. "How- how are they even similar?"

Alayna shook her head with a chuckle, "they're not. Cake's better," she teased, setting Jackson down in his bouncer before plopping down on the couch in front of Dean, taking the plastic container from him and popping it open.

Dean watched, comically horrified as she took a forkful of the desert. "Alayna, I don't think this is going to work out."

"Shut up." She giggled loudly, hitting his arm and earning a deep chuckle from the older Winchester.

Dean sat up slightly to take the cake from her hands and tossed it onto the coffee table. Alayna cried out in protest, but Dean cut her off, by hooking his hand around her thigh and yanking her down onto the couch beside him and half hovering over her as best he could. She giggled against his lips as he leaned down to kiss her; her arms found their way around his neck while his hand slide up her thigh to rest on her hip.

Catherine is human.

"Hey, stranger," Catherine smirked at him, filling up her shot glass with the half empty bottle of scotch she bought off the bar tender earlier that night. "Lookie what I got?" She whispered, the alcohol evident on her breath.

"Knock yourself out." Sam started to gather up his things with the full intention of leaving her to her sorrow.

"Hey, come on!" She cut him off and he froze. "Please, just have one drink with me. Please, Sam," she practically begged when she saw the hesitance in his eyes. "I've had a bad... five centuries actually, and it would be nice to have a friendly face."

Sam gave in with a sigh, sinking back down into his chair and setting his stuff in the open one beside him. "One pity drink."

And now the oldest creatures ever made are free. Creatures that are unlike anything the four have ever faced before, and rendering all their old tricks, weapons, and hiding places useless.

Dean's eyes widened at the black ooze dripping from his wound. Leviathan. His feet carried him a step back towards Alayna as the leviathan stepped forward, throwing its head back to reveal a wormlike face with a mouth of jagged fangs.

Alayna gasped as it grabbed Dean by the lappel's of his jacket and tossed him off to the side. She only had a moment to process what happened before the Leviathan was stalking up to her. Pulling a knife from her pocket she stabbed it into it's heart, but nothing happened, similar to Dean shooting it. The wound dripped black ooze as he slowly pulled the knife from his flesh.

It lurched at her, but before it could grab her, Sam shoved her back and attacked the Leviathan with a punch straight to the face. She fell backwards at the contact, smacking her head painfully against the hard ground. Her vision blurred and her head throbbed in pain. She was dully aware of something fall before a loud crash sounded and the Leviathan splattered across the ground.
