Karoline crossed her arms tightly across her chest, watching the Angel sitting across from her carefully. His lips were pressed into a thin line and a frustrated crease in his forehead as his eyebrows furrowed in thought. She didn't want to believe it, but how was she supposed to say no to the facts. He lied to her. He'd been working with Crowley this whole time, went behind her back.
"Karoline..." He finally began, looking up at her with those intense blue eyes that she'd grown to love over the past - almost four years now.
"I want to know everything." She told him, giving him, her full attention. She wanted to know everything. What led him to make this decision. What was so bad that he had to lied to her. And what he hoped to accomplish by working with the King of Hell.
"Everything?" He echoed and she gave a curt nod. He let out a short breath of a laugh that didn't hold any real amusement. "You know, I've been here a very long time," He began and she frowned curiously at him. "I remember many things. I remember being at a shoreline... watching a little grey fish heave itself up on the beach. And an older brother saying, 'don't step on that fish, Castiel. Big plans for that fish'. I remember the tower of Babel, all 37 feet of it... which I suppose was very impressive at the time," he muttered the last part and she felt her lips crack up into an unwanted smile at the truly confused look on his face. But, she didn't say anything - she wanted to see where he was going with all of this. "And when it fell, they howled 'Divine wrath'. But, come on, dried dung can only be stacked so high."
"Cas..." She trailed off when he looked up at her and she gave him a pointed look.
"Right, not the point," he conceded, looking down at his clasped hands in thought once more. "I remember Cain and Abel. David and Goliath. Sodom and Gomorrah... and, of course, I remember the most remarkable event." He looked up at her then and she frowned at what he meant. "Remarkable because it never came to pass. It was averted by two boys, the Doppelgangers, two old drunks, a Fallen Angel... and the most beautiful woman, I'd ever met." Karoline broke his intense gaze, fighting off the heat that crawled up the back of her neck. He couldn't sweet talk his way out of this one.
"The grand story, and we ripped up the ending and the rules and destiny, leaving nothing but freedom and choice." Karoline pushed her wild curls back out her face, finding it in her to look at him once more. "Which is all well and good, except... what if I've made the wrong choice. I mean, how am I supposed to know..." he sighed, how was he supposed to know what the right or wrong choice was. "I'm getting ahead of myself again."
"Cas," she reached over forward across the table to place a hand over his and his gaze snapped up to her almost instantly. "Tell me."
"I will, Karoline," He shifted his hand to grab hers tightly, not wanting to let go. "I will tell you everything."
Castiel walked into the the tiled room that Crowley used when capturing the Alpha and torturing information out of them. Inside he saw Crowley with a white apron o over his black suit as he examined Eve's body. Then his eyes turned over to Aurora, who was sitting on a stool and scrolling on her phone.
He cleared his throat, getting both of their attention on him, "what have you found?"
"Found a lot of things. For example... Eve's brain. Dead as a tin kipper and yet..." he trailed off, picking up a large handful of grey sphere's that filled her stomach. "For some reason, she keeps laying eggs." Castiel frowned curiously as that, coming up on the other side of the table. How was that even possible?
"Oh, that's not even the best part." Aurora locked her phone audibly, slipping it into her back pocket as she joined the two men at the table with Eve's dead body. "Watch this." With a wicked grin she grabbed a hot rod off the nearby rack. She stole a quick glance to the Vampire tied up across the room before pressing the hot rod into Eve's exposed brain. Castiel watched curiously as the creature seemed to react in kind to the assault, muffled cried pushing passed his lips as his whole body spazed in pain.
