"Well, that was a bust." Karoline commented, pulling the key card for the hotel room out of her pocket. Alayna had been silent the whole ride back from the cafe and she knew Catherine's words were starting to get to her.
"Yeah," Alayna mumbled and Karoline looked back at her, her eyes softening at the distraught look on her sisters face.
Before she could say anything to try and cheer her up, the door she had partially opened, went flying open to reveal a pissed and concerned looking Dean. "Where the Hell have you two been?" He asked gruffly, side stepping just enough for the two girls to come into the room.
Karoline rolled her eyes. She knew this was exactly how he was going to respond. "Following a lead on Sam." She told him, dropping her bag onto the nearby chair before turning to him.
His anger seemed to fade then to almost hope. "What did you find?"
"Nothing," Alayna admitted and the tense atmosphere returned, heavy on their shoulders as Dean plopped onto the edge of the bed. "Your theory of Sam being a Doppelganger was a bust." Alayna let out a soft sigh as she took a seat in one of the chairs - her feet were honestly killing her. She forgot how much stress being pregnant put on her body - even more so now than the last time since there wasn't any demon blood pumping around inside of her.
"Well, while you two were out chasing dead ends, I was actually getting somewhere with the case. Which you would know if you'd answer your phone." Dean tossed Karoline a pointed look to which she rolled her eyes. He grabbed his laptop off the bed and brought it over to where Alayna was sitting. "There."
She frowned at the screen, a long article about 'Gabriel's Horn of Truth'. It would make sense. When the horn was blown, it would compel all who hear it to spout the truth. Kinda like Wonder Woman's Lasso of Truth. She looked up at him with a frown, "you think Angels are doing this?"
"No," Dean crossed his arms, hovering behind her. "But, I think their weapons are being used as ammunition."
"Did you try calling Cas?" Karoline asked, and Dean looked up at her slowly, his face wiped into a bitch face. He'd tried about a thousand times, but he wasn't answering. Karoline rose her hands in surrender. "It was just a question." She turned to get a beer from the fridge, only to freeze in her spot at who she saw standing on the other side of the room. "Cassy?"
"Hello Karoline." He greeted in his same deep voice.
Dean whipped around, his eyes wide with shock and anger as he took in the sheepish looking Angel. "Are you kidding me?" Dean bit out. "I have been on red alert about Sam, and you come for some stupid horn?!"
"You asked me to be here, and I came." Cas noted.
"I... I've been asking you to be here for days, you dick!" Dean snapped.
"Dean," Karoline admonished, taking a slight step forward so she was just a little bit closer to the Angel. The last time she saw him was about three weeks ago when he'd brought her some more Angel Grace - that was usually the only reason she saw him now a days, with weeks in between each visit and she hated it. But, she didn't know how to voice her emotions without sounding selfish. He was fighting a war after all.
Castiel sighed, "I didn't come about Sam because I have nothing to offer about Sam."
"Well, that's great, because for all we know, he's just gift wrap for Lucifer."
"No, he's...he's not Lucifer." Castiel told him, sure of his words.
Alayna watched him curiously as he grabbed Dean's, half empty bottle of Scotch off the counter. "And how do you know that?" She asked.
