Pour Me Out

"Karoline?" A quiet voice said from behind her and the blonde whipped around to see big brown eyes starring at her in shock, unshed tears resembling a freshly melted bowl of dark chocolate. Karoline felt her heart stop in her chest at the sight of her sister, her hands shaking slightly, nervously. "You're alive." She mumbled, looking like she saw a ghost. And from her point of view, she had.

"Hi." She didn't know what else to say. What was she supposed to say? Hey, sorry for letting you think I was dead for the past year and putting you through Hell, but it was vital in the war of Heaven that I remain dead.

She heard the familiar sound of a lighter flicking followed by the ring of holy oil lighting up in a bright flame. She whirled around to see Balthazar trapped and Dean starring at her with big, vulnerable eyes. Her eyebrows furrowed in confusion at the state the Angel was in, "What're you doing?" She asked, taking a small step toward the flame.

"Don't," Dean's voice was deep and rough, a single word to halt her in her place. Karoline froze, her bright blue eyes, meeting his green ones and being able to read every emotion hidden in the color like she always could.

"You hairless ape! Release me!" Balthazar raged.

"You're next chuckles," Dean told him, but his eyes never left Karoline's. He shook his head, at a loss for words. "You're alive." He stated more than asked and Karoline shook her head helplessly at him, wanting nothing more than to reach out and comfort him, but she didn't know how.

"She was never dead," Castiel spoke up when it was clear Karoline wasn't going to say anything, coming up beside the blonde. Dean's eyes darted to the Angel as he approached. "She was with me."

"What?" Alayna whispered in disbelief. She was alive this whole time?

"It was crucial that everyone believed that Karoline was dead - if not all of Heaven would've been after her-" He was cut off by a fist crashing across his jaw, causing his head to jerk to the side.

"Dean!" Karoline admonished, but he was well passed talking to, now.

"You son of a bitch," Dean shook out his hand, but didn't pay it any attention. "A year, Cas! That whole year you let us all think she was dead. Hid her from us. You-"

"Dean," Karoline stepped forward, reaching out a hand to touch his arm. He froze at the contact, his eyes dropping to her smaller hand on his arm - like the actual contact made it all the more real that she was here. She was alive. His green eyes snapped up to her face and she felt her face soften at his glossy green eyes. "Can we talk about this later?" She asked, but he didn't say anything - yet, he didn't protest either. Which was a good sign.
