"What do you mean, you took her to New York?" Sam's voice crackled through the phone, barely heard on Dean's end as he walked down the bustling streets of New York. It had been about 11 years since he'd last been here and there was one specific thing that brought him back.
An old friend of his from when he was in the city who specialized in fake ID and falsifying paperwork to help those on the run, stay hidden. He had reason to believe that he's the one who helped Catherine stay on the run. And if he found Catherine, he could find Blair, and if he found Blair they could figure out a way to get Alayna's soul back.
"And that tone is the exact reason I didn't pick up the first seven times you called." Dean shrugged, looking around the crowd for the brunette he'd sent off to go get lunch a half hour ago.
"Where is she now?"
Dean scanned the crowd, "exploring. Eating. I'll find her."
"You lost her?" Sam's voice rose in exasperation, making Dean roll his eyes.
"I didn't lose her, I misplaced her."
He could hear Sam sigh on the other end of the line, making Dean smirk at how easy it was to get under his skin. "So, I take it your search for Catherine is off?"
"Worry not Sammy, this little joy ride happens to be part of my search for Catherine." His eyes landed onto the bar with the name 'BILLY'S' in capital letter across the top. "An old friend of mine helped people get fake identities, and I'm 99 percent sure that Catherine was one of his clients."
"And Alayna's okay with this little field trip?" He could hear the frown in Sam's voice. "Just the other day she was living the Soulless high life. She doesn't want her soul back."
"That's why I didn't tell her." Dean shrugged.
"Dean, if she finds out your trying to find a way to get her soul back she'll bolt."
"I'm aware of that, Sammy," Dean rolled his eyes. Honestly, it was like he thought he was a complete idiot. He knew what he was doing. "What I'm hoping is that she'll be so wasted that she won't even notice."
"Don't underestimate her."
Dean rolled his eyes, "If I could handle you without a Soul, I can handle her. Trust me."
"Listen to me," Sam's voice suddenly turned serious. "She's ruthless without her soul. Blair is our only shot at getting it back." That they knew of, but they didn't exactly have time to sit down and brainstorm ideas.
"Just be a good little brother and help Kare with this whole 'Mother of All' thing." Dean said instead, purposely ignoring him. "And I'll do my thing..." he trailed off when he saw Alayna making her way through the crowd towards him. Her hair was in loose curls, hanging down just passed her shoulders and colored with noticeable blonde highlights and tips. His eyebrows shot up, slowly looking her over from her toes to the top of her head.
