Two years ago

I've been here for four days. Four fucking days in the bitter cold and still no message to return home. These fucking Elders are ridiculous. My father and brother haven't sent for me either, probably because the council told them some bullshit lie. Ha. My life eh?

--------------Flash back-----------------

"Honey we have a meeting with the Elders today and you and your brother have been requested" I sluggishly hop to my feet. I don't want to do anything.

"Why do we have to have a meeting today? My mother just died and there was nothing for her. She was everything to this pack and they treated it like it was a minor setback in their plans. But we have to meet with the Elders today to discuss what, social issues? Yeah, I'd rather not."

I don't care what happens anymore. My mother was all that I loved and looked up to. Now she's gone and she's taken everything with her, including me.

"Honey. I understand that you are hurting. Hell we all are. Do you think I don't miss my only mate? The love of my life? She was my fucking world and hell I'm still lost without her, but I have lost myself in all if this. I know you think you loved her just as much as I did, but your love is only a FRACTION OF WHAT I GAVE HER. She's dead and she's not coming back so please grow up and move on. We are all hurting here kid, but that does not give you an excuse to act this way. NOT NOW. AND NOT WITH ME. DO YOU UNDERSTAND?!" His alpha tone scares the shit out of me. I can see the hurt behind his eyes and it pains me. I forgot about my father. I only thought about my pain. He was gone to shit ever since mom died. He tries hiding it, but to no avail. He looks broken, beaten, and retired.

Straightening up, I nod my head apologizing for my actions.

Shifting quickly, I run out catching up with my dad.

"Now you only speak when you're spoken to and don't let your temper get the best of you. I know how you are."

"Yes sir. I'll watch my temper and pay attention closely."

I've never been to the councils meeting location. They really never needed me. What could be so special that they would make contact with me now?

It takes a while to get to the Elders but the walk is worth it. Walking out of a cave, I'm stunned. It is absolutely gorgeous. It's like I've walked into a new world.

In the center of the cave is a lake that holds the clearest water I've ever seen. There's a waterfall off in the distances, pouring gallons of water into this haven.

In the center of the lake there is a rock that easily holds all 5 of the Elders. The grass surrounding the lake is emerald green and perfect.

We walk up a path that leads to an elevated rock. My father takes a seat on the highest point and since my brother is on his left I sit on a lowered rock on his right.

"Hello Elders. It's an honor to be with all of yo-"

"That's enough. Now we have requested your appearance here today because there has been a change in our plans for the pack. Skylar will no longer be our Alpha" Elder Akki doesn't even care what she has just said.

"WHAT?! Why?! I've do-"

"YOU WILL SPEAK WHEN YOU ARE SPOKEN TO. DID I NOT MAKE MYSELF CLEAR?" My father roared.

"Sorry father." I mutter in disbelief.

All the elders are still glaring at me.

After clearing her throat Elder Akki continues,

"We have different plans for her so with that being said, Caleb will be our new Alpha. He has just the right amount of courage, conviction, and honesty to be out leader. He is strong like yourself Calvin. He will be a great leader. I know that it surprises all of you, but it is for the good of the pack."

They just nod. Not worth defending me. All they care about is the pack, fuck family right? Unbelievable.

"You may leave now Calvin and Caleb. Skylar you stay here."

My family didn't even hesitate to leave. What a bunch of cowards. I take my fathers spot and wait until they are ready to talk.

"Now Skylar we understand that you are upset about how things have unraveled but you must understand that it's for the best of the pack" Elder Edon speaks for Akki

"I understand Elder Edon."

"You have to know that you are a very special child. You are apart of the rarest bloodline and with that being said your powers are far greater than anyone in your family. You are possibly one of the strongest werewolves out there."

"You will become a rouge to this pack."

"What the he-"

"Now calm down. Let us finish. We actually wish for your protection. You are a strong, strong wolf but if people know they will target everyone. We cannot have that. We cannot allow people to know of your true strength be-."

"Well that's just stupid. Why the hell not? If I had been alpha that would have only increased our pack strength."

"That would also make our pack extremely vulnerable to attack you insolent child. They would come for not only you but our pack as well. You hardly even know what you are capable of. Yeah you've got your strength, but where will that get you when they trap you. What will you do, fight your way out? Don't be so foolish." His words sting.

"We must keep your strength a secret. You are our power house but you still have so, so much to learn. From now on you will stop your training with Calvin. You will train and answer to us. Is that clear?"

"So I'm supposed to be your bitch and do all the packs dirty work without the pack being caught?"

"Precisely"

"Your all cowards. You shouldn't be given the respect that you receive. You can't even fight for yourselves. It's sickening." Anger flowed through me with every word.

"Your insolence is truly appalling. Would you dare turn your back on this pack? Your family? Do you not care what happens to others?"

I shake my head shamefully. I can never turn my back on them. They are all that I have. My mother wouldn't be proud if I chose to leave either. She wanted me to change things. How can I do that when I'm not here?.

"Then you shall do all that you're told. Also don't worry about you friends and family, we will tell them all that they need to know. Is that clear?"

This is a load of shit. They are all idiots. I nod my head and leave before I lose my shit.

------------End of Flash Back---------

And that's why I'm here. In this fucking snow capped mountain. Alone. Ha para-fucking-dise.

Behind me I heard soft rustling

"Who's there? If you don't speak up now you will die" growling out every word. Almost in an instant a grey wolf crawled form behind a rock, submitting to me.

"Who are you and what do you want?" I snarl, bearing my fangs.

"I-I'm sorry. I w-was just looking f-for food."

After actually looking at the wolf, she looked like no threat. I could sense her fear from a mile away and she looked like she hadn't eaten in years. Her honey eyes looked broken and dull. I felt horrible instantly.

"Uh do you know how to hunt?"

She shook her head no. I stopped her immediately in fear that she would break.

"Okay stay here. I'll get you some food. Don't move"

Before I even finished she was nuzzling her head in my neck and I never wanted it to end.
